Can we have a server merger after fee take place ?

There's no way they're going to change current servers to regional ones. It's already official that we will have lower populated servers emptied by having the players there chose one of the higher populated servers to migrate to. Common sense dictates that those emptied servers will be re-introduced as regional servers for those who want such an experience.

However, imposing regional standards to existent global servers would be completely illogical and very counter-productive. That much is obvious.

If your on a regional server then you will have lots of people to play with during your prime time, and will be able to communicate with everyone. These advantages cannot be ignored.

However there are advantages of global servers where you get to meet people from all over the world and perhaps even practice foreign languages you may be picking up, and also you get people to play with no matter what time of the day you log in.

That's why ideally it's best to have both, and for players to chose how they wish to experience their MMO. If you notice, in those advantages above I listed nothing pertaining to race. That's because this doesn't have to have anything to do with race.

I already chose when I bought the game. It was to be on a global server. If you don't like the idea of playing with people who may speak other languages you can go to your own server and not potentially force me off mine.

There is a great ocean of difference between opening region based servers and allowing those with an issue to move to them, and segregating the existing population off of their servers away from their friends, customers, linkshells, and community they have been playing with for over a year.

One is saying "If you don't like playing with Japanese players (or whichever people they don't want to play with) you can go to this new server."

The other is saying "I'm sorry but your server is now a Japanese server (or whichever it happens to be designated) if you aren't Japanese you are on the wrong server".

Unless you mean when you bought the game you understood that the servers were global, I hardly think they are the same thing.

As I said before though there is a whole thread on the JP forum about this and Yoshi-p is no doubt feeling pressured to go this route.

If you have such a big issue with it perhaps you should go over there and spout your nonscene and convince them to play with non JP players.

Why not? If there had been an option I would have chosen the global one, but I knew having played XI that there were global servers.

The fact is I'm on my server, and I have existing social relationships with others on this server. If I am forced to move because Selbina becomes a Japanese server I would absolutely quit the game.

You have the problem here, you don't want to play with Japanese players. The Japanese players on your server should not be forced to leave their server because you don't want to play with them. You should leave if that is the case.

This isn't about what you want, if Yoshi-p says this is the JP server you have little choice but to accept that, although I'm sure you would whine like a little school girl.

IIRC, the thread on the JP side that asked for language-based segregation was a 50/50 standoff like the thread on our side.

It's not as cut and dry as you think, so don't present it as such.

to put it simply

no one should be forced to leave their server due to it being designated a specific type of server

thats what opening new servers are for

yes we know some people feel that only their opinion matters, but when you take the entire server population into account the only fair thing to do is keep all current servers global, and just merge servers not giving people a choice as to wehter they go to specific ones or not

opening up transfers later to remedy people being on a sevrer they dont want to be on is another story altogether
