So I've made a poll on the design element here.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:

In my wildest dreams, SE decides to implement them gradually w/ maybe 1-2 faces by 5.1 (launch seems a bit early when they have mobile games and sequels to fund w/ subscriptions) and then expand throughout the patch cycle. I'm sure many people would buy multiple fantasias for face/ear changes as they're introduced.
Why not? Pole voted in!

Legacy character here and this is my story.
I've been playing FFXIV for the better part of a decade. I have 1,800 days of playtime, not including my time spent in 1.0. I've been playing Final Fantasy since I was a kid. My first Final Fantasy was Final Fantasy VI; even though it said III on the cartridgeand I have been a huge fan ever since. So when FFXIV was released, I bought it even though my computer couldn't handle it (I'd figure out the details later). Eventually, after building a computer that could support it, I started playing Final Fantasy XIV and fell in love.
FFXIV 1.0 gets a lot of hate, but I enjoyed it. In some ways, I feel as if though the "community" was more robust as we knew we were underdogs and embraced that label. I probably spent more time than most trying to decide what race I would be. Taking into consideration the gender choices, I chose Hyur because I feel like it resonated most with the type of character I wanted to be-- even though deep down I knew I was meant to be Miqo'te. Sadly, a male option for Miqo'te was not available so I had to settle. When FFXIV was about to end, I was saddened, but I had faith that Square Enix would create something better from the ashes.
When A Realm Reborn was released, one of the things that drove me to commit to a subscription was OPEN GENDERS. You could be male or female for EVERY race! This was very exciting to me because now I could finally be the male Miqo'te that I always wanted to be. So for years, I played as the same character, changing only my hairstyle and name. Unfortunately, I find myself wanting something new-- more of a reason to play. I take very long breaks after each expansion. I usually pay 6 months in advance, but I sometimes won't play for a year at a time. Real life is the main culprit for this, but if I'm being honest, I tire of being Miqo'te.
I assume one of the driving forces behind creating new races is to aid in the revitalization of player interest, by giving them the opportunity to create entirely new characters. I came back to FFXIV after a one year hiatus because I heard about Shadowbringers on YouTube and was excited about the Viera talk. I very much wanted to be a MALE Viera, so I renewed my account for another 6 months. Much to my complete and utter disappointment, I learned there would be no male Viera.
If anyone from Square Enix is reading my story, I implore you to reconsider your decision on gender locking races. Give me a reason to really enjoy my character again by giving the the choice to chose a male Viera.

To elaborate on my answer, I said “no” for the muscle slider not because I'm adverse to some beef but because all races only get one slider to mess with and I’d like their ear length customizable. So I've made a poll on the design element here.
Oh you sneaky little smarty pants, that would actually be a great move when the player activity drops. If anything, this might be a good move for SE.
Consider this: Mid X-Pac when things slow down a bit and get samey, we get a new patch trailer and in that Trailer is a Male Viera.
Bam, world explodes as people get super hyped again cause now there is an actual in game asset we can see. Player count surges again from interest, hype goes up. Numbers go up, money is made, everyone is happy cause itll pretty much guarantee we get male viera's (and hopefully female hrothgar, cant forget that), SE gets money, and trolls get to s----I mean everyone's super happy! Rainbows in the sky, sun shining, birds singing. The whole works.
All seriousness, from a marketing perspective that would actually be a pretty strong move and would most likely net SE a lot of money and interest during a point in most xpacs where player retention drops off a bit.

Can this look not be achieved already with male Highlanders? With so much being asked for with Hrothgar and Viera, can we not ask for more faces that have more facial options. Highlander male eye brows, male faces with more facial hair options, more hair options, face types, ect...
Nice art, thanks for sharing you guys

Psh, highlanders are too blocky looking in the head and build to pull this look off.
