Yes i'm assuming but its due to how it feels Yoshi has changed his mind on the matter, Yoshi kept going on how it was the last new race to be added yet now its like lets look at feedback to see how best to press forward. From the moment they made the decision they expected people to be against it yet it feels like they didn't expect this much and are now weighing up the option of adding the genders.

I feel like, more than leaving it as a loophole for the future (though it was definitely also that), it was to open a technical loophole when they introduced Hrothgar in the very next FanFest. Because setting aside the development technicalities (one race = male + female, two clans each, which female Viera and male Hroths together give us), they did already introduce a new race after Viera. Like, if there was ever a hint outside the leaks something else was coming, it was that. And I still don't believe the "bug" that revealed Hroth in the French version was a mistake.

Granted, that's just my tinfoil hat speaking, and it does leave them with the opening to add whatever they want after

Guys I'm expecting the devs to surprise us with this thing this time. I think that because if they were just not capable of adding the other genders, they would already have said it on an official statement...
There is always hope that we go to benchmark and there are both genders!
That being said, another reason why I think this could happen is that it isn't that hard to add new races if you make their bodies look very similar to others (I know that because gear is shared amongst all races, and if you change 1 piece of gear on one race's model, with some exceptions, all the other races will also get the change), so if they truly want to do so, they do have time enough to remove the genderlock, since it's oly headgear and animations.
That being said, I wouldn't personally mind if we couldn't equip headgear or do some specific emotes or maybe even have some pieces of gear look the same, if that would mean getting the other genders added soon.
Anyways, It might be unliekly but there is nothing wrong in hoping i guess!

So if we're told male Viera eschew the idea of leaving the Wood, so we won't be getting playable male Viera, would that be an issue with you? I don't think it would be, but I thought I'd ask out of interest.

I think it's a pretty flimsy lore rationale given that there's jobs, like WHM, with much more stringent restrictions than that, and yet you can still play one as the WoL. The lore was not the real reason as to why they weren't included, though, and they've since clarified this.

Ok I'm starting to get really annoyed at the devs, it seems like they are trying to ignore this subject in hopes that it will die down instead of giving an official respone. Guys we can't let this die down until they confirm how and when we will get the other genders. I really hope they give us an official response soon, like YoshiP said in an interview

It's barely been 3 weeks. They're already very busy since work on the expansion remains on-going, amongst other things. I was expecting a response in May, maybe.

I think that they should have already given an official response, considering it's most liekly they already planned on what to do since Yoshida himself said they plan 2 years in advance

Yeah, May's probably an apt response time, though again I wouldn't hold your breath for a forum response period. They might just shadow implement them during 6.0 with little to no word on it I'm assuming or just not at all, the BA thread got a near instant response, probably within a week I'm assuming. So since this hasn't gotten similar treatment I doubt it's a priority.
