I want to play this game so badly.
Games like Xenoblade; evidence that next-gen graphics are not for RPG's. We want vast worlds to explore. Next-gen graffix hinder the immersion (please get mad) that we seek in our RGP's.

Doh! Typed too much. Truncated (even if it doesn't look like it, quite therapeutic actually).

I admit, nostalgia plays a large role in my likes of FF games. My expectations of an FF game changed with FF7 (not in a good way). Story pacing is important to me in an FF game (or any RPG).

The pacing of FF13 with present day, flash back, and flash backs before a previously shown flash back.

I think we also have more choices in terms of RPGs. Whether they are "JRPGs" or RPGs. If we're looking at consoles only, back around FF1, we had:

Dragon Warrior, Ultima, Wizardry, D&D Pool of Radiance, Might and Magic, and Phantasy Star.

All of those light to non-existent on story and character personality.
Only one touches the sci-fi arena.
But one mixed everything together: knights, ninjas, martial arts, pirates, magic, airships, robots, and time travel?
To top that off, you can see your characters on screen swinging their weapons. That was weird.

Now that there are more types of RPGs, we've been exposed to all sorts of combat mechanics, games with branching story paths, different flavors of fantasy, steampunk, sci-fi, modern, linear and non-linear, etc.

Must end myself before I type more!

I was instantly put off by the stupid rock chocobo music in ff13-2 but figured "its only one song, i can deal with it"

But after watching the flood of videos released on GT and the constant rap songs that show up (at least 3 so far) i have cancelled my preorder and will wait to hear the critics.

I dont wanna play a SP FF that i constantly mute.

    @ Viion

I do agree with you on this one, the choices of vocal tracks... or whatever you want to call them, and I dont mean the choir ones because those are... holy shit, but I do suggest listening to some of the other tracks.

    Labyrinth of Chaos

    Paradigm Shift

    Memories of the Future

These 3 also happen to be by Naoshi Mizuta.

The music is actually nice lol. Unless you loathe rap or pop style music.

B-B-BUT GUYS FINAL FANTASY HASN'T BEEN GOOD SINCE 10. I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I'VE PLAYED EVERY SINGLE TITLE AND GAVE IT A FAIR SHOT AND I'M NOT JADED TOWARDS THE LACK OF TURN BASED COMBAT.

The Final Fantasy fanbase is a joke, what's new?

When i buy an FF i expect the 3 main characteristics of the serie:

    -Best graphics possible.
    -Awesome soundtracks.
    -A blonde/brown-haired soldier-like dude/girl having to save the world.

Unique gameplay and inovative battle mechanics are also good to see there.

About XIII-2, i might be getting it. I liked FFXIII after all (i just don't consider it RPG).

Unless SE gives fans what they want with the franchise, this is the beginning of the end of the FF series. They're doing a great job giving fans what they want with XIV, but they have to do it with the entire franchise. They were doing it with XIII-2, but to so many people, XIII was such a letdown that a sequel that improves upon most of XIII's issues wouldn't win fans back.

Final Fantasy XV needs to be completely geared towards the fans whether it appeals to SE or not: Chocobos, big areas, decent story, airships, bunch of zones, lots of exploration, customization, interesting lore, and a traditional fighting system that includes a vary of character types and a fun battle system.
