If they did release a new healer within the 5.x series (which is very unlikely due to past precedents, as NIN was a one-off, and BLU was limited), or even fixed up the healers so WHM's lack of successful identity (as brute force healing just doesn't cut it) was addressed, thus making them better balanced, I personally would be very grateful. Because with the latter they'll have finally balanced healers (which they said they were gonna do in 4.0). All we want is some recognition. Which you and I have already agreed on.

Yeah, and you've gotten that. Like Yoshi already stated he's aware that the current divide between shielding and "hots/pure healing" healers isn't working. I personally think they've realized this back in the 4.x series and have been working on it. The wording of the interview doesn't make it DEFINITIVE because he didn't say the changes are already done, but because they keep hyping up this big combat overhaul I feel like they've made progress in changing it.

As for them saying they wanna make WHM simpler and the thing they said about the other healer, comes across as them not getting what's wrong with the jobs. Now hey, come May when they do the next live letter, they may well surprise us, but us healers are very skeptical. And what if they don't balance it out and come next expansion they say "Sorry, we're still trying to balance healers, so no new healer job" thus meaning it'll be 8+ years without a new healer job. That's what we're worried about, their flimsy reasoning. Now it may be, he's just used a very poor choice of wording (or something got lost in translation), but right now we're not being inspired with confidence you know. I'd be happy with one or the other. Since we didn't get a new healer because we still need balancing out, the next best thing would be to get better balanced.

What did they say about another healer? All I saw was the WHM translation on reddit live, probably should try to find it on the stream but my Japanese is lackluster at best so I don't know if I would even be able to tell. I feel like making WHM easier would be hard to do which is why I think there was more to it than that lol. I feel that while WHM is obviously not up to par when it comes to speed-running, it's still very viable at its current implementation. So while I can see why healers don't believe the devs after they already said they would balance in 4.0, I think they did pretty good for the system they have in place to keep each healer viable. WHM even gets the spotlight in a lot of prog parties trying to clear week 1. I'm not saying they can't do better, I think it would be cool for every job to have a unique "thing" to them like cards for AST, but at least it's not as broken as like... WAR in 2.0.
