The answer is really easy; they didn't have enough dev time to create 4 races. Now, you have 2 options;

1: Accepting the reality.
2: Not accepting the reality.

If you choose 2, it's entirely your own and individual problem. You can give your opinion and everything, but you can't really be mad or anything, because there was literally no time.
They will probably bring up the 2 other races in a future, but you can't ask for them right now.

This is a bad take because adding male viera and female hrothgar isn't cosmetics or aesthetics -- characterization is game quality and gameplay. If you don't agree, go change your Lala into a male roegadyn. Why not?

You didn't have the Viera/Hrothgar option when you bought FFXIV, so the quality of the game should stay the same for you. Now we got not 1, but 2 new races, so your game quality increased. The thing is they didn't have enough time to complete the other 2 sexes, but they'll probably do them in the future just like they did male Miqo'te.

It's a question of priorities and not resources, and most players are giving respectful and succinct appeals to Square to change their priorities. What's wrong with that?

Calling Devs sexists is not a respectful and succint appeal, and it's wrong in so many levels that I can't still believe what I'm reading in the forums since the letter.
I don't know if you called them sexist or anything, but there's a lot of people that are using this excuse to escape the singular reality; Devs didn't have enough time.

Er, It's a visual medium, and your character is literally what you stare at the entire time you play.
Every piece of content played on your character is done with your character, MSQ cutscenes, raids, even the gear is displayed on your character.
"cosmetics" are a huge part of an MMO whether you like it or not, people have a right to be disappointed that Yoshi and co. decided to make gender locked races, despite previously stating that that's poor design regarding 1.0.
If you think you get more game content if the devs don't work on another two races for 6.0 then I'm sorry my dude but that won't cut down on good content, HW and SB were vastly different yet despite a higher budget for SB and no race a vast amount of players will tell you HW was their favourite expansion.

I saw very small amount of people who were absolutely selfish and asked for them "gimme right now" tbh, compare to whole group ofc. People are mostly talk about 6.0 or even 7.0 or just use "in future" instead of concrete period. Saw some talking about 5.x but...uhm... don't think it's possible even in theory. In general those, who asks for this, are quite polite and reasonable.

The other thing is that Yoshida said about feedback not for nothing. He is still not main person in SE, he can't just take as much money as he want to for our game. That said, I highly suspect that he will probably need to prove to his bosses, that community really wants to see other two genders in the game for being able to receive resources for it. That's why keeping this topic up is important. Still, it does not excuse any weird arguments that some people use. Nor does it excuse insult to DevTeam and other players. It's selfish and dirty.

Again; they had to choose between Hrothgar male and female, or Hrothgar Male and Viera female due to the lack of dev time. No matter what they choose, there would be backlash anyways.

So, for me, all this exaggerated drama is pointless. I just expect them to release the rest when they have enough time, that's all I can do for now.

Also, if you played FFXIV for a long time, these changes won't affect your gameplay, since you've been playing with the race you choose. The new races are just an optional add-up to your experience, so there's no point on being that mad over something that will eventually get fixed in future updates/expansion.

I'm the first one that wants more races because of variety. I've been Lala since 1.0 and won't ever switch, yet I want more races and will keep supporting it. But I understand Dev's limitations, and people should respect them instead of treating them disrespectfuly.

I would rather have any other kind of content than a new race. What can i do with new races? Play with customization once or twice and probably decide im staying Aura.

I´m still happy with all the players that got their Viera or Beastrace, but this exaggerated outcry about genderlock is ridiculous. It almost sounds as if they already had both genders and took one gender away; thats not how it is! You all got 2 new races 1 for every gender!

I get what you're saying Choco, but even if the outrage is annoying, it is a positive effort in the long run. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and all that. It is obvious from the threads that the demand is there and trying to downplay it is just going to read as petty to a lot of people. It just looks like "How dare they ask for something I'm personally not invested in! If they get what they want they might steal dev resources from parts of the game that I personally care about instead!"

Oh, I'm sure some people do. This is a Japanese MMO after all. That isn't the only reason people want them though. Just like how all the people who wanted Hrothgar aren't automatically furries. :v
