It's obvious they just throw the lore card when it suits them, it's just a really bad excuse.I mean, that's not even counting the fact that hrothgar in lore would count as a beast tribe based on description alone. I believe it's been stated multiple times that the only reason miqo'te weren't more heavily persecuted was because they looked far more humanoid and stayed to themselves.
Sidurgu's family was slaughtered on sight in ishgard so i can't imagine how weird it is in lore to have literal beastmen walking around in city states. Even in the lupin are restricted to yanxia from what I know, and the blue kojin are only allowed due to trade correct? for ARR zones like ul'dah it seems sort of weird.
And that's the part you make it all about you. Because concept drawing was the typical ikemen aesthetic (fit build, more feminine face ect.) and going by what we heard about them they seem more vicious in nature than sexy seductive anyways. But you really seem to want to make it about gay man. Maybe you guys are not even a big enough demographic to really cater too in FFXIV and yet if something you like isn't going to happen you make it an issue about your community even though many girls and even straight man thought that it looked good and wanted it too. If you are a minority deal with not being the focus, that is how it is. It's not political. So instead of having a weird group mentality join in with the full playerbase that is in favor of it and we might get something.well, we dont. but we do have several concept drawings that can give us a good approximation of how they would look. no matter what the adult oriented part of the otome community is like, fact is that those kinds of designs are still associated more with gay men than straight women, and sometimes considered gross or weird because gay men find them attractive, not straight women.
I support the idea of having the two extra options, and think the most logical method of implementation would be to add them at a later date during the expansion in the same way Blizzard had to delay Zandalari/Kul tiran.

Q. Are you adding something different for men?
A. No. If we try to maintain that equity as a policy, we'll have to make most equipment unisex, and on top of that it'll require more development time and we'll have to cut the amount of total gear we can implement. At the moment we are working to get rid of the gender lock for bunny suits for men.
Q. So men and women are going to be able to equip it?
A.Yes. The NA community had an especially high demand so we thought we should do it. Our female staff is putting hard work into creating it.
Yeah, it's quite obvious they're willing to change or alter the lore when necessary, for some reason Viera seems like a touchy subject for them however. I heard the theory that it was corporate's idea to save a male viera reveal for a possible new game in the ivalice series, and that the dev team showing the male viera concept art and using the lore excuse was a way to get people to post feedback that would entice them being given the 'okay' to make the opposing gender? seems too tin foil to me but who knows.
Would love to see male Viera added! I was so disappointed when we didn't get them. The FATE concept art would be the ideal for me.

My response is, once again, female staff working on something =/= male staff being 'too grossed out' by the idea.
It means... female staff were put on it for one reason or another. Could it possibly be to maintain that equity as a policy that was said only a couple sentences before?
Who knows? Let's jump on the homophobic bandwagon instead.

Existence is reasonable
Let's make things better
I don't see the point in any stance of adding another blocky muscular male race when the two that are already in-game are some of the least played by a huge margin.
No male viera, rehashed demo maps, and a lack of healer weren't the only reasons for my decision to unsubscribe, but until it's shown that they're willing to listen to the playerbase more I'd rather be spending my money on something else. If it is higher-ups, then that's unfortunate, but it doesn't change how I feel about the game in it's current state.
+1 for male viera, in any case.
i've always been averse to genderlock. +1 from me.
