Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

I dont usually go on the forums but I had to log on for this. As a healer that wanted healer dancer the news upset me but I like the look and design of dancer so im open minded and hopeful.

But no male viera was very disappointing. My closest friend became very interested in playing the game with me when I mentioned that Viera was a confirmed race for the future and we were both looking forward to showing the world of Eorzea to them together when Shadow Bringers came out but since the genderlock announcement my friend has began losing interest again.

I understand it is a big task and a costly one. I understand it would take time. Im more than willing to wait if youre willing to lift the genderlock as soon as you are able.

I want to show my closest friend the amazing game you and your team have worked hard to create but I want to do it with my friend in a race they'd love to play rather than reluctantly settled for.

Please give us Male Viera.

Lore is whatever the game devs want it to be. They are not shy about saying they change the lore behind anything they use from other FF games to give it a feel for the ffxiv game world.

Saying "no males because lore" is just a dog whistle. Its a more 'polite way' to be homophobic.

One of my main concerns regarding the lack of male Viera mostly stems from a lore perspective.

According to the lore male Viera exist in the world. What strikes me as the most odd is how the lore depicts them as never seen, however, the same is true of other races, and clans of said races. It is also said that the males return to their villages to mate. Regardless, if a Viera like Fran, or the Viera we see dancing in the recent Shadowbringers trailer can be outside their "safe zone", who's to say that a Male Viera is incapable of doing the same?

Now, if you want my personal opinion on the matter, I wasn't at all angry about the news of this race being gender locked, but I was confused about the decision. I'm not going to say if it was a good idea or not either, but I wonder why they decided to go this route?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a Male Viera as a playable race simply because it feels natural to include it as an option. I just think its odd to have a gender locked race without any specific reason.

I really wanted to play as a Viera Dragoon, because I love the idea of a rabbit-human as a jumping Dragoon and I really liked the concept art of the male Viera with spears form the FATE in Tokyo 2015.
However, I like to portray myself into the character I play, so playing a female character as a guy is not immersive to me.

While it's cool to have Hrothgar, it stinks leaving out the male Viera due to lore reasons. This game breaks canon all the time, not to mention, it can have its' own canon! It doesn't have to stick to old lore.

I wouldn't mind waiting a bit, i wouldn't even mind paying an extra fee of some degree like 20 bucks as long as it was confirmed male Viera would be in the works. To me customization is one of the most important aspects alongside crafting and of course the main story, so after i saw the concept art already posted numerous times in here of that I fell in love with the aesthetics. I'd shell out a lot more money for that type of conetnt in contrast to running the same raid over and over again which makes me just pay a continued sub. I'm no business expert of course but i can vouch for that: I personally would invest more money into the game.

World building that breaks apart if you have two playable WHMs in a party, or SCHs, or BLMs, or---- oh and this one's a male Keeper of the Moon, standing next to a Duskwight Elezen, well that's just not right--

If they were really adamant about the lore, this would've been a single player game.

When it comes to lore and story XIV functions as a single player game. I see your character is 70, so unless you're the kind of person that skips all dialogue and cutscenes you know this as well.
There's no 2 WoLs in the story, there's you as the WoL and occasionally your anonymous "elite force", which is usually involved in side content not pertinent to the MSQ.
Having Male Viera face against Zenos would be pretty lorebreaking for Viera.

I feel stupid saying this stuff, because it's all very obvious and everyone knows this.
Having one extra skin for your character to RP with on Balmung isn't worth breaking the Viera lore.
Part of the reason they're so requested in the first place is that their lore makes them interesting.
I understand it's pointless to argue with people having a hissy fit (no offense), but in the offchance that any of this reaches the dev team I think there are some things that needed to be said
