Gender locked race?

What? It is sexist when the girls look like playboy bunnies, yet we aren't allowed to have males to that regard. The same can be said toward the Hrothgar, as it's fairly sexist to only give the men their powerful beastly race and not the girls. These genders exist in the lore for these races as they should exist in the character creator.

I know what lore and story building is, and this game doesn't always follow that. Come back to this thread once you've looked up the lore surrounding that Dragoon you have at 70 if you want to throw that rebuttal at me.

oh you mean the lore for DRG, of which you the player character are the only one of other then the NPC? I know lore, Viera lore does not even allow for ONE to leave the wood, it just does not happen, they are so rare its not even funny, rarer then male Miqo'te

you are preaching to the quire here, I live endgame, glamour is life, but you also have to work with what is given to you. It is true that having the other gender of these races would hurt no one, and I in fact was fine with how it rolled out lastnight, or even if we just got m/f Viera. This way we get two races, not just one, more choices for people over all. We could have just not had any new races what so ever, but we got not just one, but two.

Yes it is amazing we got two new races! That's awesome! I'm happy people have more options with big buff men and pretty bunny ladies. But They released them only for one gender. What about the people who want to be Tuff Buff lion ladies and the ones who wanted be Viera Babe dudes?

If it wasn't for the leak or for the french translation thing Hrothgar would have come out of no where. Viera was on its way to being the only new race and the way they played coy with males at the Pairs Fanfest didn't help the hype for it. Many people had most likely brushed off the leaks as rumor as many leaks are. None of this was helped by the fact they had multiple pieces of concept art for male Vieras that they showed publicly only building the hype.

People are allowed to be upset that instead of getting one whole race, one that was certainly in demand for a long time, they only get half of it and then told that hey instead of doing the full race we did this other race instead! Oh and we made the creation for both these only half of a race super deep and customizable because we didn't do the other gender! And that just makes it suck even more!

While I wanted male Viera I am certainly happy with the fact we are gettin a new Beasty race but with that now I would love to make a cool fierce Lion lady! And now I can't do either. And I think that also has caused a lot of the unhappiness that the choice they wanted was taken then a choice they didn't even know they could have was then taken away as well.

Now that the anger of being led on and before anyone says anything at Paris Yoshi could've said that male Viera was not going to be playable by deliberately dodging questions he led people on this is where my anger is, has finally started going away i'm just so disappointed a single male Viera coming out he forest is no less lore breaking than a Hrothgar entering Ul'Dah or Gridania without being detained/attacked/interrogated. The lore excuse is hiding the real reason and it saddens me that they are hiding behind this mask, they will not get anything out of me besides the expansion an monthly sub and depending how the gameplay features of 5.0 will determine if i stay playing.

I am hugely against gender locks of this kind and seeing ffxiv a game i have spent 6+ with go this route has upset me and made me more fearful of its future as now i am worried they will add a gender locked jobs

your worry is unfounded honestly. The game will be fine, the world is not ending.

I understand where you're coming from but lore and story building really don't mean that much when I can summon Jibanyan as a minion and then fly off on my Regalia while queuing for the Nier raid. Obviously the devs are not super concrete about the lore of XIV and what it means. This was just a bad decision made under the guise of an otherwise unrelated concept to make it not seem as bad.
