I think we might see male viera and female hrotgar much sooner than expected, considering that ffxiv team can now use this to tell SE that they need help and if they help them they can earn so much money. That being said, if they actually wanted, SE could give us 2 full races at launch, although I don't really think it's gonna happen, my bet is that maybe they remove 1 genderlock at a time, 1 at 5.1, then another one at 5.1.5 or 5.2

Too optimistic. ツ Just to be fair, Yoshida'a department opened recruiting at 1st April, but:I think we might see male viera and female hrotgar much sooner than expected, considering that ffxiv team can now use this to tell SE that they need help and if they help them they can earn so much money. - His team works not only on FFXIV and according to recruit description, they plan to work on some big project;
- They started to work on new races 3 months after 4.0 release so it took almost full 2 years with other work. 5.1 or 5.2 is just physically impossimble. 5.5 is earliest option at this point and still - I will not wait it earlier than 6.0-6.x;
- Team most likely will have a vacation after 5.0 release. Maybe just short one, but welp, they need it.

Why would they release it in 5.5 even if they could. If they were to release any additional races I suspect they would to it as a carrot/incentive/selling point for their new 6.0 expansion. It makes no sense to me to release a new race at a time when subs are low and the current xpac winding down.Too optimistic. ツ Just to be fair, Yoshida'a department opened recruiting at 1st April, but:

Female Viera and Male Hrothgar are a big selling point for this xpac and are a driving force is sales I'm sure.

Not like they would, my point was more about time and resources - 5.5 is earliest when they physically can release it (but it should be a very harsh schedule then). Doesn't mean that they will (and I personally think that 6.0 release will be best time because they will have time to work on it without being dead and it will be good for sells as well). We don't know their Work Flow anyway and can only speculate.Why would they release it in 5.5 even if they could. I wasn't disagreeing with your point just trying to reinforce what you were saying. Given the current gear adjustments and the gear added in 5.0 the amount of work for any two additional genders will take more time, not less. Even for these currently scheduled the need to finish work for headgear still requires staff to do that even after release.Not like they would, my point was more about time and resources - 5.5 is earliest when they physically can release it (but it should be a very harsh schedule then). If FFXIV does see extra money, I'd rather it be spent on increasing the amount of housing wards. That'd benefit a greater number of people, too.
Alternatively it could be spent on more PvP or PvE content.

Might not be a popular sentiment in this thread but the addition of male Viera and female Hrothgar for 6.0 won't be anywhere near as sub inducing as the current female Viera and male Hrothgar are for 5.0. It's going to be interesting to see if SE actually decides to make those for what I think is a relatively small population who really wants them.

Probably not, the expansion is to move the story forward not a player controlled social aspect. I could be wrong but people who use taunts and slick means to coax someone, even a business, isn't going to work. It's gone past eager fanfic to even rude and pushy in some cases. I'll be glad when everyone calms down and the forums go back to normal.Might not be a popular sentiment in this thread but the addition of male Viera and female Hrothgar for 6.0 won't be anywhere near as sub inducing as the current female Viera and male Hrothgar are for 5.0. Maybe we can ask for a few fixes instead lol
