How is it severe hypocrisy? I honestly can't imagine how they look like because I can't imagine them making them extremely beast like. All I can imagine is something that looks like Byakko and even that seems 'out there'. Having a lack of solid 'image' on what something would look like is certainly not 'hypocrisy' when there's been zero information leaked beyond 'inspired by ronso', 'majestic mane' and 'bara'.Come on now, this has been talked about multiple times in this thread. There are more differences between ronso and miqo'te than there is between miqo'te and viera. If you can't envision how they can be different yet you're 100% ok with viera being added to the game then that seems like severe hypocrisy to me.
While with Viera we already have a baseline imagery set. Concept art they released as well as the female counterpart?
I mean, derp herp - not sure what you want from here.

I think they mean Miqotes and Vieras are merely humanoid with cat/bunny ears and tails, while ronso have more animal features (face, jaw/ teeth, horn, fur etc.)
Which seems to be FFXIV's way of doing, all characters are alway slender or well built, and the animal "features" are small. Any Hrothgar with a mane would be like this in my mind. Some kind of bulky human with a mane of hair and maybe a lion tail and feline eyes, if we go with the lion route.
Having only one beast playable race with all the other ones being very human based would feel weird in the FFXIV's scope.

Let's pump this thread up to 400 before fanfest. We can do it! Excited to see what Hrothgar looks like Friday.
Both Viera and Miqo'te fall into Kemonomimi.
Kemonomimi. Noun. (uncountable) (chiefly Japanese fiction) A humanoid fictional character who possesses animal-like features (most commonly ears and/or horns). A cosplayer who wears animal-like features.
Well the other is an anthropomorphic animal, basically an animal with human traits. Apparently the furry fandom describes it as bipedal animals, which I think that is what most people describe it as.
Yea, I can't imagine FFXIV going that far in the animalistic direction. It might have fans in the West, but I can't imagine people liking that sort of race in the East very well. With a new race I imagine the goal is to make it as appealing to players as possible. So regardless of what we're getting, it is going to be either lion flavored human or bunny flavored human. :v Or something along those lines. When you consider it like that, I can see a lion based human blending together with a general cat like race like miqote.I think they mean Miqotes and Vieras are merely humanoid with cat/bunny ears and tails, while ronso have more animal features (face, jaw/ teeth, horn, fur etc.)

What difference does that make? You're factually correct on your statement, yeah, but that's hardly relevant to what he was saying. Both Viera and Miqo'te fall into Kemonomimi.

This is the full context.

I think most super animal looking races tend to come from Eastern games, though. If by East you just mean Japan then maybe, I don't know many other Japanese mmo's to compare to, but I honestly don't think Japanese people would have any issues with a beast race lol.Yea, I can't imagine FFXIV going that far in the animalistic direction. This has been my hope. Yoshi P went on record saying he felt Viera were too much like Mi' qote. Going so far as to express displeasure at revealing the first race concept art while still finalizing Aura pre-Heavensward during The Tokyo Fate event.
I could see the dev team being told to create Hrothgar and only after The Return to Ivalice raid inclusion and fan demand had Viera added to the to do list.
As i have said before, i truly believe that should Viera be released as a genderlocked there will be a great amount of player demand once more. This goes for Hrothgar aswell. No one asked for them, but going backwards after undoing 1.0's genderlocks of Roegadyn and Mi'qote would be foolish, increadably self-destructive, and possibly very costly.
It takes more to correct a mistake after the fact than to be proactive and simply give what is being asked for.
