Gender locked race?

There's just one chance to leave an impression though.
If they are smart, and can jump out of their comfort zones, they can make a big reveal this upcoming fanfest and gain a lot of positive feedback. Feedback in form of subscribers, more expansion sales and especially fantasia's.
Fantasia is a money mine. They know, we know. Nobody can deny it.

You're acting like they can change their mind in the drop of a hat. Whatever decision that they made, they made it before this thread was even born.

well, adding male Viera after announcing female Viera does seem like the smartest thing to do. They know people are going to be asking for them. What isn't smart about that?

Lol that's your opinion. For all we know there could be more people who would prefer a lion race. It's not like anyone has their fingers on the pulse of the playerbase's desires in this thread.

I'm sure there are some people that would prefer a lion race, I'm not saying there aren't. What I'm saying is that people have expectations after being shown female Viera. Being able to meet those expectations would be the smart thing to do, that's pretty undeniable. I get that you want to downplay this and make it seem like it isn't a big deal, but it is a big deal to a lot of people. People like to assume that just because they aren't personally invested in something it doesn't matter.

I really don't get why people wanting male Viera bothers you so much Cica. What do you gain from constantly trying to tell them something they care about isn't important?

Cool, put words in my mouth. I'm not downplaying anything. I'm saying that no matter what the devs put into the game there will be fantasia sales. Guess what? All those expectations people have from seeing Viera? They're fulfilled by female Viera because that's all we know so far. If you're expecting anything more from the non hints they've given you that you're getting males, that's on you. There, I denied it. It can be important to you, I don't care. I don't know what to tell you if you think it is unreasonable for people to expect male Viera after seeing female Viera. You can't blame people for wanting something like that. That's what I don't get about your responses here. Why do you give people such a hard time just for wanting male Viera to go with the female Viera? Isn't it a natural train of thought after seeing female Viera to ask "so when are we getting the male Viera?"


I don't see the issue with Baha's comment. It would be a smart thing to do because there are a lot of people who want male viera, which would sell fantasia. Baha isn't saying that any other race wouldn't sell fantasia, but that male viera would sell a lot of it. You obviously don't think it would though, since you don't think male viera are that important to people. That's what I mean by downplaying. There's nothing wrong with you voicing your opinions, I just don't get why you're so adamant about male viera being unimportant.

No I wasnt talking about male Viera only, but about 2 new full race, which in return would increase the fantasia sale by a lot. And thats why I was talking about their comfort zone, if they can jump out of it and give both Viera and Hrothgar, it will boost up fantasia sales even further. I dont know why you both feel attacked now though.

If they decided wisely on this, it will increase overall reputation of FFXIV. I doubt they can shine with a "genderlocked new races" while the community asks for female Hrothgar/male Viera?!

It's perfectly reasonable to want something. It's not reasonable to expect something that wasn't promised. Especially after all the info to the contrary coming out in leaks and mistakes. That's just where we disagree then. I don't think it is unreasonable for people to expect something like that at all. No more unreasonable than it was for people to expect male miqote or female roegadyn back when 1.0 launched. After being shown a new race expecting both genders to be playable shouldn't be an unreasonable expectation at this point. None of the races since ARR's launch have been genderlocked. Again, I'm not saying anyone is unreasonable for that reason. I'm responding to justifications people are giving in their posts. People can want genderlocks to stay gone, in an ideal setting I would want both for both races too. I just don't think it's likely considering what we have seen over time, and I've been here awhile. So while I WANT both, I don't EXPECT both.

You've been decidedly vocal about male Viera in this thread, so I assumed you were being vocal about it again. I honestly don't even consider two fulls races an option considering the past.
