Gender locked race?

I'm sure the reception of any sort of male Viera would be taken better than announcing "Hey, we're giving you guys a genderlocked race again." That's not going to fly very well no matter how they spin it. They can offer people something else, but it isn't going to distract people from their crushed expectations.

I mean yeah, but at the same time I think overall the reaction will be positive as long as what they do offer looks good. There will be those crushed because they've been wanting to be male Viera since they came into this world, but I expect the majority of players don't have such strong ties to the idea.

I think more people care than you think, in both the east and the west. I could be wrong of course, but it seems to me that a lot of people have been eager to see male Viera after so many years. Offering people something else, even if it looks good, isn't going to make people just forget about it. The Hrothgar will just open up another can of worms since then you'll be hearing from people who want a female version of that on top of the people who wanted male Viera to begin with.

Yea, that's the thing, I don't even mind waiting for the male Viera if need be. Just the idea that they're closing the door on them entirely bothers me, especially if the only reason for it is that Yoshi thought they were "weird." That's what I'd be angry about. I don't mind waiting.

I think the biggest rift I've seen are between people who want a manly tall elezen type male Viera and the little bunny boy we saw in the concept art. I honestly don't think the faces are what people are arguing about lol.

In the event you weren't around for the previous Viera request thread, the females were in a similar camp pre-Fran reveal where some wanted the usual tall+lean females and others wanted small+cute based on that one concept art.

The two most popular ideas for male body type are tall+moderately muscular and small+cute. Without going the middie/highlander split, choosing 1 and giving the options to make something cute or rugged covers the most bases of what people want. You can make a googly eyed, puffy cheeked, min height catboy. Or you can make a max height, wrinkled catboy with chops and scars. Midlanders are pretty similar with their customization and I think thats why they're the two most popular male picks, you can do so much with them.
