Honestly, I don't mind at all. When I look at the lodestone page or the pics provided by the OP, I see a 'king' and 'queen' version of the crown. Of course, I also don't hide that I'm a conservative who supports traditional values. I do understand where the gripes are coming from, but I also don't find it be anything to be very upset over. While the male version would look great on females as well, I do not feel the same about the female version of the crown on males, which I think would only look good on the females because it is comprised only of flowers.

These crowns make me think of the B.C. era and ancient Greece/Rome when this attire was more common. From the limited knowledge I do have about these times, it seems that the male wreaths definitely were constructed to have more leaves, laurels, and even stone opposed to flowers. Especially the ones that were used as ceremonial rewards for tournament and military successes along with other valiant deeds.

In short, the leaves give the crown a flair of masculinity. I can't speak for the dye options, but I also don't mind that the pink flowers stay pink.

The NPC (I'm also not sure if it's the salvager or the other one) does let you exchange SOME gendered items, but I don't think it's been updated in ages. It's all older seasonal event gear that is now on Mog Station - kimonos, beachwear, Valentione's aprons, etc.

I'd be surprised if you can't still trade those items if you bought them from Mog Station rather than owning them from the event - it's still the same item to trade, and I'm pretty sure that's all the game looks at. I'd have to test it to be sure though.

In any case, it's irrelevant to the flower crown but it's a good way to try on some Mog Station gear to see whether you want to buy it or not.

Pretty sure I cannot trade my Lord's suikan, which I bought, but I shall check!

I quite like the approach that they took. Furthermore, we're very close to Shadowbringers so the development team is understandably busy with the expansion. I'm not going to hold it against them if seasonal event rewards aren't utterly breathtaking if it means the bulk of their attention is on the expansion.

I just find the whole thing weird. Why did they need to be genderlocked? It's just a flower crown. Surely it would have been better just to give us both crowns unlocked and let us use whichever we prefered.

I think my favourite premise to come out of this thread is that Flowers Are For Women and Leaves Are For Men

It's a curiously uneven balance though. The leaves make the crown look "more masculine" but they don't make it "less feminine". So if one design works for both, why make two?

The problem here is that they've done more work than was necessary for the crown, with little (or possibly negative) benefit compared to just giving everyone the same design.

Unless this is all a sneaky tactic so people don't complain so much about the "feminine" flower crowns in the first place. *adjusts tinfoil hat*

Most likely my male character will keep using the Serpent Elite tree-crown and I'll quietly despair over the flower crown clashing with my female characters' hairstyles... but will have to play around with it on both genders regardless, and see if I can find a co-ordinating outfit that looks nice.

(I've already tried it on Aurelie and discovered that the back of it gets completely absorbed into her plait, with just a few petal-ends sticking out awkwardly. I don't expect my other character's ponytail to fare much better.)

Or you know... Give feedback since we want to use it. It's not that we don't like it, we do, but they made some silly choices that make it hard to work with for some peoples aesthetics and we're allowed to let them know that it's a bad choice. We pay our subs too.
