A bard joined shortly after and the BLM asked us what roles we were playing, since they only started the game and had no idea how to deal healers, tanks and dps apart - after I explained how to do that and pointed out that I'm a healer and the bard is a dps, I offered to just go without a tank. Obviously that failed and lucks for the BLM they didnt want to wait til 5 minutes elapsed and left him alone instead. Taking a 30 minutes penalty over waiting 2 minutes for someone to finish a cutscene and a 5 minutes fight afterwards... Its even more depressing when you consider DPS-queuetimes. The BLM told us that he waited an hour for the trial to pop, only to be greeted by people who couldnt wait 2 minutes for him to watch his cutscenes.
Assuming that at least a few of those people got into Titan via leveling roulettes, I'd really like to see the bonus count as soon as you enter an instances - if you leave that instances by your own account, your bonus for that day is gone.
I absolutely despise people like this who never even bother to think about new players or be patient enough to help them

"Boo hoo hoo dat less than 2 minutes cutscene is too long i dont have time for dis" mentality is absurd cuz the cutscenes for those take barely that much time to begin with and when I get those instances on queues I wait patiently and watch youtube on my phone. If people are this stupidly impatient they shouldn't queue for level roullette in the first place cuz they honestly don't deserve the bonus

Have a story from last night. Leveling SAM, got queued with a PAL, WHT, and NIN. Run was okay, but the Tank noticed something off about our healer. She had a level 30 weapon. Needless to say, the healer was struggling to keep everyone topped up, but was barely managing. Ninja dropped after the first boss, got a Bard who promised to help keep the WHM's mana topped off. Turn out the healer thought the only way she could upgrade was dungeon loot, so we all made some suggestions on how she could upgrade without RNG. Anyway, we made it through, the healer was grateful, and everyone got a comm. It was a pretty fun group.

Leveling roulette. I was SCH, got titan normal. I'm not very good at SCH, currently lv 64 or something, but I can handle titan normal. Load in, notice the tank is a gladiator. Not a PLD. Ok, it's a newbie, maybe they just forgot to unlock PLD. Gear is lv 40-ish, though... So they should have PLD, right? Whatever, should be quick.

Tank's first comment is something along the lines of "I hope this group co operates, last one didn't". Ok...? Maybe they had a bad party, this should still be quick. Tank pulls, things instantly goes wrong. Eos is tanking titan 99% or the time, I'm desperately trying to keep everyone alive while my Fairy, of course, dies. Tank uses absolutely no cooldowns. Not even rampart. We wipe. Tank says something along the lines "tip: try to keep the tank at close to full health." A dps counters with "keep aggro...?" and I think I say "unlock PLD...?" or something like that. After spamming psychic (Eos is still tanking a lot btw) on the tank when they sometimes have aggro, we somehow clear. But I don't think I did any dps there XD

I mean... I get that you can be new. I love helping newbies. But that attitude...

My poor Eos... He died a hero!

The only problem I have with this is that this could unfairly penalize people who have legit reasons to leave, like a short emergency or something. That's probably why something like that hasn't been implemented already.

That being said, holy crap. I get some of the gripes that people have with sitting through cutscenes, especially in the MSQ roulette, but this is ridiculous.

This is honestly horrible, that poor sprout. I don't understand why they couldn't have waited like five minutes? Titan nm is basically free tombs at this point.

Information on what duty this was might be relevant.
Anyways, good that you gave directions to the WHM.

It never stops amusing me how DPS are always the ones to quit without a second thought if something goes wrong. I mean, sure, enjoy your penalty + queue time I guess, you probably just wanted to be carried anyways /shrug

As for my story...I'm normally a healer/ranged type of player, so not a big fan of melee. That didn't stop me from being curious about tanking though, just to try everything. Even if I suck, at least I tried, right? I unlock and level GLD until late 20's and decide it's time for a dungeon. Got Halatali.

The first thing I do is greet the other party members, warn them I'm new at tanking and apologize beforehand, they didn't seem to have any issues so of I go to my first instance pull....only for the NIN/BRD (don't remember), a miqo girl, sprinting ahead and aggroing EVERYTHING. I panic but keep using a few flashes to assert my tank dominance, it was...a good start. Off to the second room and she keeps doing that, fine, whatever, it's a low level dungeon so you don't really need a tank yet.

Fastforward and after the first boss she keeps pulling everything ahead, at this point I'm admittedly annoyed and ask her 'do you want to tank instead?' And she starts... roleplaying I guess? something on the lines of kitty cat girls being brave people that relish in combat and need no man (oh great) I go with the flow and ok, fine, you pull it, you tank it I guess. I've read that phrase so many times but never thought I would actually use it one day. She, unsurprisingly kept pulling everything and was actually in the brink of death after realizing I wasn't pulling them off her....but I couldn't help it, I wouldn't let my first tanking run to end up a mess, so I tank it all off (apparently the healer was semi ignoring her too). She then proceeds to say stuff that maybe she IS a better tank than I am, that maybe she should learn the arts of tanking, that I need harder skin, etc etc. At this point I don't even know anymore if she's roleplaying an obnoxious character or straight up trolling. I'm not gonna lie, I AM rather 'soft skinned' and did panic a few times in there, ran out of MP to keep spamming flash, even thought of ditching the group midway through...but I kept thinking, if I couldn't finish a petty low level dungeon, what kind of player am I? I wanted to tank, and tanks don't quit, you know, all that motivational speech inside my head and stuff. Whatever! final boss! let's just be done with this.

For my first dungeon, it went rather well, it's just....the pressure of being a tank, to keep all the aggro, people (not) following you, I knew all the responsibilities would eventually be put on my shoulders if took the mantle of tank, I just didn't expect my first run ever to be so abrupt. I know I was simply unlucky to get that kind of person on my first run, but I guess if I want to keep doing this I do need to get used to it and stand my ground.

I've been tanking for pretty much all of my time in FFXIV and have run into situations like this many times and despite my first instinct to just let whoever is pulling take the tank roll and get smashed I can never bring myself to do it. Like you I always do my best to grab the agro back and keep the mob focused on me. I have found that many times the rest of the party will go along with the pace I set and some have encouraged me too pull larger groups (which I do when they ask like that). Whenever I run a dungeon as a tank I try to run it in a way that won't induce panic in someone who is running it for the first time unless the group says otherwise like I mentioned. Sometimes I just don't remember the dungeon that well, lol.

Sounds like you did a good run and I hope you got a couple of comms for it.

Good for you for not giving up, despite the obnoxious miqo. Personally, I don't get those type often but most often time, the healer and I psychically bond and let the dps die. It's very cathartic.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when a portion of the players in a run of something die to something of their own stupidity, and then proceed to bark orders are the people still up trying to salvage the run that they dead people messed up.

    "Healer LB" -No lb gauge-

"Rez the other healer" -out of mp-

Please shut up and let the people that didn't die do their thing.
