I didn't need to no but as you are correct I am on PS4 but I do the digital version of the game because I don't want open the CE.

Ah, so you don't want to open the CE to get the key code inside? I'm guessing there is no other way to get the code and so you're willing to pay for the digital version? Well, if you can and are willing to afford buying both editions, then fair enough, more power to you.

Actually that's weird. In EU, PC download is cheaper than PS4 physical standard (35€ vs 45€). Digital PS4 is the same as PC.

I've just come to accept that this is the age we live in now. Physical media is becoming more scarce, digital media is the way forward. Yeah it sucks completely and it's a tad unfair. But imho, we can't fight against the tide that is purely digital media that's coming. I'd go as far to say that the next generation, if not the in the next 2 generations, will be purely digital.

Even PS4 discs have only the basic files on them to be read and the rest is downloaded/installed directly to the storage media.

I hate that the pc version is only available as a download. I'm one of those who likes to have a cd/dvd copy as a back-up in case of situations such as data limitations and whatnot. It's disappointing that apparently not even the physical CE will have a game disc included.

Yeah and by the time the discs have been produced and spread around the shops worldwide it will be already outdated.


I understand this for single player games but it's not the standard anymore. I remember in the past in the game shops we had huge shelves of Xbox, Playstation and PC games. Then Steam became bigger and well this is the result, in some shops they completly removed the 'PC games corner' it's just one big black void and in place they hanged Steam, Origin, Uplay, etc wallet top up cards.


Anyway on MMO's it doesn't serve much purpose, I remember several years back (I think it was in 2008) with the release of Wrath of The Lich King for WoW I had to reinstall it for a reason I don't know anymore but I had the dvd disc (was 2 weeks after launch it happened), I installed the game and was greeted with massive update anyway.

There's actually a lot of people who're doing it like that. I even have a friend who goes a step further and buys 2 physical CE's and one digital CE. The Digital one to get well the code and digital CE goodies, 1 physical CE box that he keeps sealed and just put it one of his boxes and then another physical CE box that he also keeps sealed but sells it years later for a big price on ebay or something.

Thats the EU store. The NA store doesnt even currently have it as an option. Thats even more ridiculous if they sell EU physical copies but not NA. I'd like to assume its just errors on the page, but you never can know these things.

Also, note current as I say this when you click on "PC Download" for Shadowbringers it shows "PS4" as well as PC, same for the PS4 version it says PC and PS4. Similar to how the EU site does but its all just wrong. So really hope its just errors and they will add the physical copy.

If they are going to make everything digital they need to make everything digital. You get a digital figure, digital art book and digital game. Dont make a game case with box art if you arent going to be selling and making discs anymore.

If people want physical figures they should have to buy it separate just like the plush chocobo as an example.
