No 5.0 PC physical copy?

Point is PS4 gets a disc/box/box art and costs the same price as PC/MAC. How is that right? “Because you need a disc for PS4” ok. Then make it even across the board and give PC and MAC a disc and box/box art.

I know giving a lower price would be “unfair” for PS4 if it was cheaper for PC. So again, just give everyone a disc and box art.

I’m not angry. Just don’t see why they are cutting corners and creating an uneven pricing “playing field.”

TBH it costs them about $0.17 to make the physical disc. Basically it just equates in theory to a smaller download but then that's only in theory as day 1 usually has a patch and PS4's at least from my experience have a throttled download speed due to PSN. I can download and install a 50GB game on my PC in about 20 minutes. A game half that size takes around 4-8 hours on PS4.

It's not even a smaller download on PC, since the physical discs have only ever contained an installer. There's no actual game data.

Wow no physical copy for windows. That doesn't make me really want buy it anymore. Not when were I live max internet speed is 5mb. Notice there charging same price for preorder as Stormblood which came with a physical copy.

You would only get an installer anyway (which is 109mb according to the website).

This is what every previous version was as well iirc. They never actually had any game data on them as that changes quickly. I can't verify tho, as all my disks are 3000 miles away atm.

the only time the physical disc had more than the installer was 1.0 but the data on said disc was outdated quickly. with 2.0 they had a 650MB to 700MB CD with only the 109MB installer on it. makes little sense if that is all that will be on it. do note while it only costs them a small amount to make the disc the packaging, storage and shipment also come into cost

Maybe because the collectors edition comes with other materials than a disc. and discs have been a pittance to print for quite some time now? I'm sorry if I sound a little salty but I'm growing frustrated with these kinds of questions. Of all the things you want to complain about its 'why isn't a few dollars shaved off of my copy?'

Its not a complaint, and not a request "to save money" its a request for the box art. Try to stop being so edgy and read more.

I like box art, but I am not willing to dish out 200$+ for a figurine that I have zero interest in.

Best route is what Kingdom Hearts III did.

Make a Deluxe Edition for people who dont want to blow crazy money for figures.

Make a Collectors Edition for people who want random extras.

Buy the ps4 version then? Or just download the art later, there will be an upload of it somewhere, could even be on the SE press site now.

I’m a fairly new player and got the ARR+HW+SB Complete PC disc version to install the game. Even with three discs worth of data installed, I still had to wait for all three “parts” to have patches downloaded and installed. I was both surprised and not surprised even the StB CE doesn’t have a physical disc.

I'm surprised they're still releasing the game on MAC, ever since that FFXIV mac issue ages ago, where people had to get refunds for their broken/not able to play copies of FFXIV during Heavensward.
