Next Job Should be a healer

When I think how a job that "Dances" is meant to perform in a combat setting...
As a healer, I feel like they would behave as the Bard of the healers. Using "Dance" abilities to get utility going.
What kind of utility? Well, certainly not TP.
Dancing is meant to be oberved by others, and impact their spirit. (Or their body in some cases. uwu)
Maybe they toggle between MP and HP area regen?

If they made it melee as a healer, it could still work, just more gimmicky. Huge focus on AoE heals.

Honestly so sick of dps that want every single interesting job to be dps so they have more “options”. You kidding me? You have far more options than anyone. Just because you like a certain type, doesn’t change the fact that you have far more options than us tanks and healers. Not our fault that you choose to ignore a large chunk of your options.

Tanks and healers dont have the variety you guys do. Look at ast. It turned out to be a whm with cards and some shields. So much varietyyyyyyyyy. All we want is variety, just like you have as a dps. DNC may very well be the answer to what we want. I’ve heard suggestions of chemist healer, but I can’t imagine them being any different than ast or whm in the sense of how they heal.

Using the same type of healers gets boring sometimes. There’s people like me who only like playing healers. I’ve played the other roles, but there’s nothing that keeps me like healing does. I’ve seen people imply casters and healers are the same so we healers have those for options, but it’s not the case at all. I want to heal, I don’t want my focus to be only on doing damage.

Dancer should always be a healer. DPS you literally got a expansion full of DPS give the healer and tank a chance please.

Honestly I've been largely a DPS player and I think there needs to be another healer too. Dancer seems likely given how much demand there is, and Geomancer seems like it has a strong likelihood too. Would like a kind of dark healer tonally as contrast to White Mage, Scholar, and Astrologian. It would also loop healers in alongside edgy DPS (dragoon, black mage) and tank classes (dark knight) but I don't have high hopes, at least for this expansion. Do think it makes sense for there to be another healer and a pause on DPS personally regardless, hope whatever comes out is a lot of fun!

The fact they are merging TP and MP means they can do a TP based healer since it scales off the rest of the healing gear and its one resource. If TP didn't do that then it should have included separate dancer gear.

Not to mention Yoshi-P was wearing Thancred at the Fanfest? There has always been some kind of visual reference in the keynotes for upcoming content. Why did he choose to spend all that time and money getting a cosplayer to make a costumes specifically for Thancred?

Thancred is a partial anagram of Dancer. Fully xTH = DANCER, reflecting it might be a future job even if not the next one

The only issue with GEO is what would make it different from conjurer/white mage? From the sounds of it in lore they're almost the same except the tools used by the caster.

I can't imagine the developers will suddenly change their entire healer design philosophy and decide 'hey let's make [NEW HEALER] support the party during healing downtime instead of having them just dps like literally every other job in the game'.

Whatever [NEW HEALER] is (Dancer, Chemist, w/e), it'll come with the standard healer damage suite of various DoTs (1 to 3), a filler to spam when DoTs are up and running (Broil, Stone, etc), and a high MP, high damage AoE filler (Holy/Gravity/Miasma II). It will have one oGCD ability that deals damage to the enemy incidentally whilst restoring hp/mp (Earthly Star, Assize, Energy Drain). And you'll be using these quite a bit more than your healing skillsso lets hope they're ones you like lol

I want SE to prove me wrong, but right now I don't see them making any sort of deviation from the current predictable healer design formula, except maybe making [NEW HEALER]'s attack filler spell have some sort of gimmick (melee range requirements, stance requirements, w/e).

While I don't mind dancer being a healer and I'm guessing it is gonna be one if it comes out, you aren't wrong at ALL. And if Dancer is gonna be more ofthe same then I say buck it and make it a DPS. Tho depending on how THAT'll turn out it could just be a monk 4.0 and I rather SE make monk awesome then just make Dancer the approvement to it.

Yeah I'm not particularly into it either. Mainly I think GEO would be likely because there have been a bunch of in-game references to it. I agree with you on finding it too similar to other, existing classes though.

Um what? Thancred has the gunbreaker job in 5.0.
