I already see whats gonna happen when they show male viera (same we had with fem viera) -> "meh, just looks like miqote / hyur with bunny ears, devs are sooooo lazy".

The tweet does confirm it, but frankly, Yoshida hasn't revealed anything new there. We all knew that there is a Fanfest left, we all knew that they haven't said anything about genderlock, and we all knew that male Vieras were designed back in the HW days. There was no reason whatsoever to firmly believe that males weren't going to exist. I'm baffled at all this collective panic o_o

Even with SE owned property, there's still copyright as well they have to go through in order to implement certain content, especially with a pre-established race without any pre-existing shown males.
Backhanding the community, especially if its for Yoshi-Ps own bias (he confirmed to dislike Male Viera during development, I forget which source but he disliked them for being "too cute". If that's the reason why we get the Lion race instead of it being the OK sign then Yoshi is unable to be the bigger developer for his community.
Or they could just refused to use gender pronouns for the race, NOT state that it's gender locked and dance around direct questions with "Look forward to Japan!" if they wanna stir up fans and troll people. That's what they're doing. If they really do have male Viera waiting in the wings for a later reveal, this is all they had to do:
- Viera trailer finishes playing
- Koji: "Wait, but there were only female Viera in that trailer, what about the males?"
- Yoshida pretends not to hear and then moves on with the presentation.
That's all we needed, we would get the message. "Male Viera are coming, we'll show them later". They didn't need concept art or anything. By completely avoiding any mention of the males it gives rise to the strong possibility that there are no male Viera at all and they're dodging the question.
I mean, it's not like they have shown us much. If this race IS gender locked then why not just say "we decided to bring back gender locking. Viera are only female!"? Not saying something leads to people panicking and general poop stirring.
Males would be a big reveal so they're gonna save it for Japan.
That does not make any sense at all you are stating that one worker no matter the hierarchy would put his personal preference over the company best interest and profit?Even with SE owned property, there's still copyright as well they have to go through in order to implement certain content, especially with a pre-established race without any pre-existing shown males.

That isn´t the attitude of the referred person his attitude shows pretty much the otherwise so far, that is a lie probably and a disgusting one.
Except a confirmation of existence would be a yes we have males playable. The tweet does not say that, it merely says there is another fanfest- I'm sure people have seen this before from other places, friends, family, games, movies, etc "wait for more info" != confirmation of desire (it can but it doesn't necessitate). It requires an assumption to know they will have males or not. It could be a safe one but it is still an assumption. Imo it would be wise not to lock them, but due to an outside info source I'm less certain than I would be otherwise that it's not locked / does not have very large dimorphic properties. To add if that was the case then the the hush hush about Male would make more sense than "trolling", imo, if it was because it's going to be a whole other race reveal or at least be quite a bit different looking. If they looked relatively similar like the concept art we have seen in the past then the seperation between fanfests just sounds like stressing the community for little gain. The tweet does confirm it, but frankly, Yoshida hasn't revealed anything new there. There is no reason to abandon hope right now but there is not a confirmation of Male viera as playable (they're in lore at least lol).
Besides that he's stated he wasn't a huge fan of the idea, which doesn't mean it can't happen since he has changed his mind (but he's also not), consider if they add Male viera that the tactics universe now has heavy pressure to have Male viera. SE may be reluctant to push ffxiv onto other ff games, perhaps even a designer of the tactics version even pushing back saying they dont want to add them in their own games. It might be bigger than just FFXIV to add Male viera as a visual to the game.
There are two good reasons why male Vieras haven't been announced yet.
1.) They probably aren't ready to be shown. All the female Viera shown had the exact same face type so even the females aren't complete yet. By the next fanfest atleast one male type should be ready to be shown, possible even to show off the second clan.
2.) Another incentive to watch/be present for the last Fanfest. While the last fanfest is already certain to have quite a lot of content to show (the second and (possible but doubtful) third job, new skills for all jobs, the 8-man raid, etc.) the possibility (more probably) of male Viera being shown is also now added to it.
I was thinking about changing to Viera but if they don’t add the male Viera,I’d probably won’t change.
All races must be equal, that’s what I believe.
So if male chatacter can’t change then I shouldn’t either. It’s not fair to them.
An additional point for people worth keeping in mind on all of this.
We (Japan's international crowd) are not the primary market for this game. The Japanese players are. Most of the sales are going to come from SE's domestic audience on this game. As customer's we're a great "and also", SE does things to acknowledge us too like having a very clearly Western hyur midlander in ads. But the reactions that are going to be important and the base devs are catering to = the Japanese audience.
They're not going to make their biggest business and creative decisions around the reactions of Western players, with our tendencies to freak out and lack of patience. They're going to do it around the Japanese players who make up the majority of sales and who are usually on the same page as them. It makes some sense that if they have an exciting new surprise, like male Viera, they'll want to unveil that to their main audience directly.
A lot of people are talking about how the devs aren't thinking of them and their specific reactions. Didn't they consider the Western lodestone thread???
But the thing is, that requires forgetting that anything we do--the Japanese servers are bigger, more active, and more important in this context. We are the minority here. I don't speak Japanese, but did see at least one comment attesting that Japanese players are asking about male Viera too.
So again. Perspective. World doesn't revolve around us. It makes a lot of sense that they're saving special announcements and huge new content for Japan. The reveal of female Viera internationally is a way of giving their international fans a gift. Their big surprise they're likely saving for Japan since that's their main crowd and they want to "save the best for last".
I can't speak for the rest of this seeing as I don't pay attention to the Non-NA side of things but the last part is what I've been saying on other threads about this.An additional point for people worth keeping in mind on all of this.

I don't understand why people don't understand why they would save this for Japan.
They are a Japanese company making a Japanese game and the final event is going to be held in Japan ... they're gonna want to save the BIGGEST stuff for that event.
I mean, with all they have shown they really haven't shown much. We still haven't seen the Viera wear non-race gear so we don't know how they're gonna tackle head or foot wear. They talked about having to change something about the process to make it work iirc. Gunbreaker ... we have only seen like 4 moves and barely any info on how it works other than slashing dmg and ammo? I can go on and on, they have a ton of stuff they can spring on us at the next fest so why wouldn't the very first male bunnies be saved for the likely biggest event being held in their native land?
I would.
They look to have a great mixture of poses that depict a range from graceful to confidant to thoughtful.
