I mean the whole reason why it's only after prae is so that the person has a lv 50 job and they seem to be wanting to have with SB and going forward have jobs not be locked behind expansion areas like the HW jobs are. There was a huge amount of unhappy people back when HW came out that were just starting the game when they couldn't just start in on Ast, Drk and Mch once they reached a certain point and that they had to slog through all of ARR. SE themselves even said that was a mistake and it's why we now have 3 jobs that start in ARR areas that only need you to have the 2.0 storyline done and a lv 50 battle class to unlock. It's partly why many have brought up people like Nero and others that we now know we can trust vs some unkwon npc who somehow survived our dives into their base messing up a lot of them and have us trust them.

Yeah, the thing to consider though, is that with each new expansion, simply tossing classes into ARR content starts to create an increasing issue of the levels you need to attain on said class to be able to participate in the current content.

With SB it was 20 levels you had to get through, with half of them actually being current content.

With ShB (God, I so hate the name of the next expansion xD) it'll be 30 levels you have to get through, with only a third of them being current content.

It's only going to get worse as each expac comes out.

So, it's not unlikely that they might put jobs in a later expansion, but not require the CURRENT expansion to have progress in (Which was part of the thing with the HW jobs, was that not only did you need to complete all of ARR, you then had to do HW quests until you were finally able to enter Ishgard. Something that annoyed me as I was trying to rush to try out Dork Knight ASAP and being really annoyed with how long it took before I could finally enter the city just to grab the class and go start beating up level 30 dudes to try and level >.>)

Thus, they could make it so you just have to complete Heavensward (Quest) and have a level 60 battle class and it could start at level 50-60 in some HW content. Or it could be just complete Stormblood (Quest) with a level 70 battle class and could start at level 60-70 in some SB content.

Speak for yourself, I trust Nero exactly as far as I can throw him.

If it was pre going through omega Nero I'd be right there with you because he did come off as a highly untrustworthy type but a post omega Nero on the other hand he's moved away a little from this guy is totally shady. That and come on he can't be as bad as Martin the blue trainer who literally made us do his work. Now, Nero might still try to pull off an it was all me thing but he also has his competitive side.

We'll see how/where they'll be putting this job's start at this weekend but I still think they'll be trying to have this and any other job(s) not blocked by something big like an expansion. Unless they really do want to sell those story skip potions :/

The issue with HW was that you had to get to level 50 and play through a bunch of patches of boring msq, often considered the low point of the entire game, to get to Ishgard and unlock them as level 30 jobs. I'm not saying they WILL do this, but I don't think it would have the same problem. The main issue with the HW jobs was having to get to 50+, get to Ishgard, and then start over at 30, where as if the new jobs started at 60, starting in Ishgard would be fine just as RDM and SAM starting at 50 in ul'dah works.

I really doubt it's going to be an established npc though. I'm guessing they'll go for new characters. They could be related to a castrum in Eorzea or just a group of defectors etc that we meet, there's any number of ways they could take the job story. I'm curious what they'll do with the stone, maybe it will be a new stone just like MCH?

Well, to be fair, I disliked pretty much everyone in the BLU story... Martyn was made out to be a good guy eventually, but still didn't sway me from not liking him and his shady practices.

Omega still hasn't changed my mind about Nero. The fact that we ended up having Cid watch his every move and make sure that Omega got shut down doesn't exactly boost my confidence in the guy who keeps trying to access stupidly powerful Allagan weapons.

Like, that's why I'd trust a random dude who fled from the base I attacked far more, since that dude's only motive is survival. Nero wants power/notoriety and isn't afraid to try and access stuff LIKE Omega in order to do it. Like, how freaking sketch is it that he comes along and is all like "Oh, I just happen to know exactly how to start up and control Omega" like it's a common thing to just pick up knowledge of how to command a ridiculously powerful weapon...

    Yeah.

As I say, I can see both sides to things.

Putting all jobs within ARR content so people can access them easily (Just having to figure out how to write them into the storyline for that period of time)

As well as transitioning to putting them into expansion content so as to alleviate the leveling concerns for the job itself as well as giving more freedom to write them into a period that makes sense off the bat (I.e. Something like post 4.5 Populares or one of Shadowhunter's cronies or past acquaintances)

Well he did sneak into the orignal pvp map and found omega that way and concerning how well the Allagans recorded things he could have found something. I mean Garleans did find Ultima Weapon and learn how to use it. Those notes had to be found somehow let alone learning how to bring down Dalamud. I mean we are talking about someone who's as smart as Cid and comes from an Empire that brought back cloning.

I still don't like Martin but at least he doesn't want to industrialize the new world. That and the Carnival owner will probably keep him in line.

Me too. I hope he returns in some capacity. But I dobt he would be a gunblade teacher. If it is not somebody we aready know I would bet it would be the XIV version of either Squall or Seifer.

Give me the brooding emo one and not the I think I'm better than you and I also dislike you because I can't believe you freaking forgot about our childhood due to a slightly unknown effect from the use of summons one.

Well I get you. But brooding emo's leadership and teaching skills pretty much extend to: ......whatever.....

Quite frankly neither of them would be really good as teachers. But hey. They are the only gunblade wielders available.
