That's a total contradiction. It doesn't center on target. It happens to be centered on target. Read my reply. Your solution is completely unrelated to the problem presented in the original post, which is explicitly about placing a ground target at extreme range.

make a macro like:

/micon ability
/merror off
/ac ability <t>
/ac ability

You'll either cast the ability at your target without the ground target, or you'll get the ground target as a fall back if you don't have a target.
Yes ground targets are a pain with gamepad.
