The macro doesn't center it on a target. The macro overrides the need to position the ground target in the first place by just casting the ability straight up on the target -- which consequently happens to be "centered on target with a macro".

Ok you're right.

make a macro like:

/micon ability
/merror off
/ac ability <t>
/ac ability

You'll either cast the ability at your target without the ground target, or you'll get the ground target as a fall back if you don't have a target.
Yes ground targets are a pain with gamepad.
