I think it's safe to say we now know what this guy is.



It's T.G. Cid. Makes sense given he's roughly where Orbonne is on the map. I know you're probably saying "but he doesn't have long hair like that and this drawing doesn't have his beard!" Yes, but firstly this artwork is not drawn by the scenario artist, it's drawn by Amano, I believe. Secondly, the map is drawn in character as a cartographer from Hydalyn and all the errors that come with that. For example, Seiryu is still depicted as a blue dragon on the map, despite his actual form. This is intentional.


As an aside, it was brought up before but does anyone else think T.G Cid is what inspired the Sylphian legend of Ramuh and Ala Mhigan legend of Rhalgr? If FFXIV has taught us anything it's that history and legends get distorted over time, like with the Ixal originally being Allag an creations and Bismarck originally being an airship that was misinterpreted as a Sky Whale. Cid says in his fight he is known as the God of thunder, and he has lines about judging and justice, both themes of Ramuh and Rhalgr. Perhaps the Twelve are all zodiac braves. Agrias = Halone?
