My main gripe with the hair isn't the gender lock, though I can see why that is a big issue with most people. My big gripe is with Ramza's ponytail. Possible spoiler ahead, though if you are on this thread you probably completed the raid.

When the press images for the new hair styles first came out each had two characters with their respective style. In the male version their is a lalafell showcasing Ramza's hair. Based on his angle you should be able to see the ponytail, but none is visible in the image at all. When I tried the style on, I had to adjust the camera a ways to "hide" it.

I was excited, cause this looked like the first hairstyle I'd be able to use in forever. What really helped was that the lala in the image has red hair as do I, so it helped me see it more clearly from the start.

The other half of that gripe can be seen at the end of the raid, when we meet the original Ramza. He has the same hairstyle, without the ponytail. But sadly SE didn't think to grant us this luxury.

While I understand the gender issue, I at least hope we get Ramza's ponytail-less version soon. Maybe make that one gender neutral.
