Well for me long term content is something that stays relevant for quite some time (even outside the expansion or patch it was released) simply because its useful for the players. One example imo are the deep dungeons instances, something which could always be used to level up jobs in each new expansion if they started low enough. Which is one of the main points next the bonus of getting rewards, challenging yourself, or getting some stones.

Something which was short term is imo Diadem, because after people got every reward from it they dropped it quite fast because you get nothing out from it anymore. (Diadem 2.0 was even faster dead because it gave nothing to the players and was also not fun for most of them) Of course there will be a time when something is not relevant anymore but even today people are still running PotD, while Diadem was death a few months after it was introduced.

Eureka as the new content in Stormblood is in a weird place in this. Without the relic weapons as a reward it would probably be as death as Diadem thus short term but thanks to the weapons it might stay alive longer. But imo it will never be a real long term content because most people will be done with that in this expansion and its questionable if many will try to get the old relics out from there in the future. And other than that its mostly useless for progression and you cant level up other jobs with it. So this is more a middle thing that is only kept alive thanks to rewards.

That is the main battle content, you also have mini games that can be long term too. (But they are still more things that you do in your spare time and that has less time and budget involved thanks to that)
I would say that TT cards and Aquapolis are good mini/side games that will also stay relevant in the future. TT cards are added in each patch/expansion and they will be grinded for quite some time. Aquapolis and it other parts are done even now just because the rewards can be sold quite well and because its also fun in its own way. While something like chocobo racing is mostly dead because there is nothing much good going on for this. No new updates or good rewards so its kinda useless.

Jobs themselves are imo not truly content but a great way to make the content itself more fun or diverse. They will always be relevant because you can use (and need) them in each new battle content.

Blue itself is in a strange place and thats why I wonder how they will do it in the future. It kinda needs constant updates to stay alive (like TT cards) but also will need more time and budget to keep it updated. I mean its probably quite more work to create or copy new skills, make them work in the game and add new stages to the carnival than adding a couple of cards to new/old content. (+ any new glamour or gear for it) In the end I see this as nothing more but a new mini game and not main content. And I am not sure if the work for this mini game is worth it in the end and if they introduce even more mini games in form of other limited jobs then how much will that take away from main content?

I am not saying that content/mini games like that should not exist in the game I just wonder if its worth it and how much it might take away from other things in the game, especially if we get more and more of them.
