Are Blizzard II, and Freeze useful at all?

So I'm practicing blm and I'm looking at the aoe rotation for 70 which to my knowledge is get umbral hearts, fire 2 x2, triplecast flare x2, convert, flare, and maybe a mana potion, swiftcast, flare if need be.

But then I look at the umbral hearts phase and occasionally I need to pop a blizzard I to keep enochian up. But it seems after thunder II is obtained, Blizzard II and Freeze are pretty much unused. Is there any point in time that these skills are useful or are they just dead slots?

I don’t get this.I mean during Umbra Ice you can put thunder II,bliz 4 or even extra Foul then hard cast Fire III and still make it to Astral Fire in time.Maybe your spellspeed is kinda too low ?
Bliz II has its usefulness and if you’ve played BLM long enough you’ll know when to use this skill.
I’m agree with Freeze being useless outside PvP though.

I asked myself the same question after I accidentally removed both skills from my hotbar and didn’t really notice for several months.

For PVE..... Blizz2 seems to me to be more useful for bind at low level and in fates. I mainly use Freeze as a visual effect spell I can instantly cast during an emote like /mogdance.

Please explain what uses this skill has? Because the only use I can see is that we don't jump directly from Blizzard 1 to Blizzard 3 without a 2 in between. Break, Sleep or Freeze are better crowd control skills in any case - and crowd control is almost useless in this game.

The damage is lousy and it is a melee skill, you lose uptime when you move towards the enemys, and you get still hit when you stay in range of the bound enemys, so you lose uptime when you move away from the enemys... and the bind effect lasts only for 8 seconds anyway.

I use B2 at the start of a run when everybody else is doing their prep work (Protect, mudras, form shifts, w/e), just to feel like I have to do something to get ready, too.
It's also questionably useful as a thing to cast when you just don't want to bother worrying about mobs dying and interrupting your cast (repeatedly) just to contribute a little bit more to that last bit of damage.

Pretty much.
Blizzard II and Freeze might be more useful if they were target based, like Fire II etc.
Perhaps give B2 a greater mana regen or regens more mp when it hits more enemies, so you can use it at low levels to recharge faster.
Freeze should do more than bind really, just should be more effective crowd control even if its still useless for raids.

You shouldn't even be using Fire 2 at 70 to be honest, iirc it only trumps Flare in damage once it hits more than 16(?) targets, which is literally impossible because aoes cap at 16. Just skip the F2 and go straight into Flare spam.

I main sch so occasionally I flub up my rotation and use it to keep from loosing enochian. I'm not the best blm by any means but I still enjoy it greatly

this is true but I saw a rotation tutorial saying to use the first two umbral hearts on fire 2 then triple cast 3 flares
