Raiders, is this normal (O10S question)?

Morning. And I'll go ahead and state this off the bat - this is not a follow-up to past threads. I actually have a legitimate question this time (and I got over myself and started hitting green).

I've been reviewing some of my statics past few clears on O10S, and I notice that during the transition when you have to deal with the keys, there is a drop in DPS. It seems to affect the melee DPS more than anything else (even flip/spins). Lately, I noticed that I go from a consistent 6.2k from before the boss flies away to 5.2k when you're done dealing with the keys and the add. That's a significant drop. What I'm asking is suggestions that would minimize that huge dps drop. Not sure if it's normal to drop that hard during this particular section.

I am a ilvl 393 NIN, if that helps.

I suggest turning off the parser and just enjoy the game.

Doesn't quite help when you're trying to figure some things out - besides, I'm PS4, I don't have a parser lol

Your damage is going to plummet during that phase regardless of role because of the randomness of the keys (so you can't pre-position yourself for attacking or go in a CW or CCW fashion). You also will not be able to get full rotations on most of them if your static is piling on the same one. Plus, after Protostar, you're running around dodging divebombs and AOEs. The total time of that entire phase is pushing 2 minutes.

My static tries to split up with at least two players on the non-invulnerable nails to kill them faster. But we still see a significant drop in damage simply because of the amount of downtime you have during the add phase. Whether or not this is the optimal strat I can't say, but we do down it faster now that we did before when we were one person per nail.

For some, optimization of a fight and increasing their damage (personal and raid damage) is enjoyment. How about we stop making pointless suggestions that everyone should play your preferred way?

The only thing you can do is ask your other party members to coordinate better and let melees handle the nails that are linked to other nails so you have an easier time when moving between them. Also, remember to use shukuchi and, if needed, reset it with a raiton.

Please let players that want to improve ask for assistance to do so without insinuating that they're parser slaves.

Oh hi Kisai, did you get banned on your main acc? Still telling people what's fun and what's not?

On topic: At which point spesifically? I don't think your dps drops by 1k just from transistion into Nails or during nails. There is however almost minute (something like 43 seconds) of downtime after the dragon add and I think that's more likely candidate.

Such defensive children. Keep your parsers. Make the game a competition over #'s. I will enjoy the game.

I suggest that people stop deciding whats enjoyable for others.

Parsing is also not for competition for most people its for improving yourself, but i know its hard to understand if you don't want to.

Yeah, we tend to be quite split up for the keys - I don't think we ever discussed a specific strat when dealing with keys. I talk it over with them tonight, see if we can staunch the drop a little when we do our weekly for it again.

Oh? Raiton refreshes shukuchi? Or can fuma do it as well? Fuma is my go-to mudra.

I haven't pinpointed where outside of knowing that it's during this specific transition, especially with as much time as you have in the phase. I gotta look into it some more when I have time.
