It's only beneficial to the longevity of the game to give more people with different playstyles and party preferences more things to do.
This hit the nail on the head.

I would love to see end-game content designed for full parties to also have a light party version as stated here: Same content, less difficulty, less reward. SE would be wise to do this.

That said, it is also a good thing for SE to allow the full-party content to be attempted with 5-8 members with no other changes.

It's all about options, and we all love options.

but why does it have to be like this? 4 man should be just as hard or slightly harder than 8 man content and yield the same kind of drops. They could make 4 man versions of the primals. I was excited when I found out they were making light and full parties... but it seems content can only be beat with 8 atm, and exping with 4 people is almost a waste of time when you compare it to 8 man.

That is the reason it's not "light parties" like every other Final Fantasy.
To be fair, most early final fantasy titles had at least 5 people per party. Well FFIV did anyway. Honestly they should just continue to make content either specifically for light parties or for full parties.

I like to believe that MMORPG should do everything on a grand scale. When I read massive, I picture elephants and blue whales.
Do you picture turtles when you read massive? I sure as hell don't.
    God damn turtles.

I think there is a very good compromise that would cater to most players.

When the devs build content, they could set the minimum number of players to enter around 3 or 4, and create a system where everything scales depending on the number of people entering. The scaling could modify the number of enemies, their placement and strength, as well as possible drop rates. In the later, people who finish the content with the most players at the higher difficult wouldn't want a small group of people to just as easily get the rewards that they themselves have worked for. While there is a certain amount of luck in drop rates, a full group might get the drop they want in only a few runs, the small group may need multiple more runs through to have a decent chance of seeing the drop.

And then in 2.0, we may be able to see even harder content for groups entering with more than eight people. It would be then where I think an expanded loot table would be appropriate. Just my two gil, but I think a system similar to that would make most happy.

We checked in with Yoshida in regards to the desire to see high-end content for Light Parties as well. He let us know that they're planning further adjustments and will start off with the Dzemael Darkhold that will allow Light Parties to challenge it. He said that they're also looking into implementing a 4-person version of the Ifrit battle (Hard) in the future by making adjustments and refinements to the battle itself.

Very cool, considering I never finished the quest for DH because I couldn't stand the mechanics of training everything through the instance. I hope we can see future instances released with both 4 and 8 person party configurations supported. Let's just hope that they are rebalancing the fights in DH (especially Ogre) since they seemed like they weren't scaled down at all to accommodate for the abolishment of physical levels.

Darkhold Ogre is really easy now, you should give it a shot.

Uh.. I think this is not right. I think it is better to have both light and full PT content come as separate instead of turning any old content into light PT content.. I know that it is easier to work this way for dev, but this mean SE will never release any new content for light PT at all other than useless-leve?
