Well, when I enabled SLI, it took maybe a day or two to get a right feel for it. I didnt notice any real additional increase in input latency or micro stuttering, to be honest I am kind of a noob with a lot of these settingsNice setup, did you try to get the 2600K to 5GHz though?
My current system is a GTS250(810/2052/1250) with an e8400@4.2GHz, and 2G of PC2-9600, with a wd raptor 150. Its running XP-32. In crowded areas I drop down to 24fps, even when running with middle-quality settings and 1024x768
I'm thinking of upgrading my system with a setup similar to yours, so could you reply with some info:
When you enabled SLI, did you notice any additional increase in input latency, or micro-stuttering? Have vsync/triple-buffering enabled? What do you have your "Maximum pre-rendered frames" set to? Do you notice any (even tiny amount of) stuttering when characters models are being loaded from the HDD?Vsync I have off with the triple buffering too, well I don't exactly understand what they do. I have the maximum pre loaded frames set to 3 which was default. Do you suggest I change it? As far as your last question yeah there is a lot of stuttering when characters load in Uldah for about 4 seconds and then it goes away. I dont quite notice it on the road. I did get it to 5GHZ :P the minute I started to run prime95 my cores jumped up to about 90 instantly, which makes me think that I need to re apply my paste cause I do have a really good cooler and it should be a bit cooler at that point I think. However it might have to wait for me to move it into the basement because my ambient temperature is really high. At 4.8 things hover at about 80 under 100% load, but then again how often am I under 100% load... almost never. I never really break 30% during regular use for the most part I dont think. I could test some stuff for you when game comes back up because I would like to learn more about those features you mentioned.
All together with case, 22 inch Samsung screen, extra cooler, keyboard mouse and so on for about 1400 USD.
I had a nvidia GFX card before but i get better score with the ATI.
I made another rig for my GF, a bit cheaper, no SSD, normal DDR3 RAM version (Geil) and the new AMD series CPU.
The AMD CPU dragged down the score by a lot...

Exactly.... Me and my LS mates love talking about FFXIV and our Rigs, and we talk a lot about how our rigs run FFXIV. My buddy is having an issue with his 5870, so I was hoping to get a few replies of that so I could help him out. We really do love talking about or rigs... my friend has 3 5870's setup, he is selling them for a 6990. I might try and tell him to wait for the GTX 590
Make sure you didn't get a 486 motherboard with fake cache chips!
Built a cheap AthlonII-X4 system with onboard video for someone a few months ago. Tested it with the beta and it actually ran! But only got 4fps in crowded areas with the lowest settings![]()
Oh by then see what the Bulldozer is like! or the next socket of the Sandy Bridge. With triple channel ram.Dude... that is one hell of a rig man. Anyways I got an i5 750 @ 3.0 ghz, a ati HD 5770, 4gb of ram, p55 mobo, 1 tb hdd, and a 650w psu. I think I'm going to upgrade next Cyber Monday, probably to a 6950, i5 2500k or i7 2600k, 8gb of ram, a new UEFI mobo, which then I'll probably need to get a 750w psu or so.
I dont see how you have the same score... can you post screens please. And what is this 8 core intel chip you have? is the 990X not only 6cores? I dont know much about the Xeon but I doubt you have those... and I dont even know what a radeon 5800 is . Lol its posts like this I was talking about in my orignal post lol...i have a
ATI Radeon HD 5800
8 GB DDR-3 Ultra
Intel i7 8 core CPU
Intel X25-M SATA SOlid-STate Drive
Gigabyte P55A-UD3P mainboard
We have the same score in the benchmark and i payed a lot less for my machine (all together with a new nice case, extra cooler, 22 inch Samsung screen for about 1400 USD)
FFXIV runs awesome with all settings maxed.
I use this PC for gaming only... my workstation cost a lot more than that, the cost of the grahic card alone would be enough to pay a couple new rigs.
4 fps? you lucky bastard i only get 2!
and its sad if anyone actualy remembers these types of computers, we are old

No... I spend 3K on a hobby that I really enjoy. I dont only play games on my computer. I saved up and built it. I am not showing off at all or else I could of spent 10k building a computer. If you dont have anything good to add to the thread please dont.[Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XI FORUM Guidelines.]
