    I had always envisioned XIV's beastmaster to play a lot like a job from one of my other all-time favorite games -- the Ranger class from Dragon Age origins. Here you summon one of several types of animals to fight with you -- each one having a certain effect on the battle. As you become more skilled with using them, you can summon "upgraded" versions -- so like a Direwolf instead of a Wolf. For example, you could summon a spider that would stun/bind the enemy for a time. Of course, the animals couldn't be summoned "just" for that purpose (we already have stun/bind as quickly as you can press a button), so they would need other actions beyond that... but it was a fun class to play with a lot of situational awareness of what animal would be best in what encounter.
    This is excactly how I was picturing how it might work in Ffxiv, maybe with a bit more complexity (but not as complex as XI's BSM), I also loved playing Venomancer in Perfect World as well as the Ranger class from Dragon Age Origins. As you've guessed, I'd love another pet class

    my vision of beast master is a job where weapon is whip. where you use echo to commute with beasts and animal and you work with them and tame the fight at your side kind like wow vanilla hunter but you have build up level up trust. as player you can have small pet like squirrel and such follow you in the cities large pet like tiger and drake can't huge animal like dinosaurs are more tank like

    for leveling you start out with simple animal once you get higher lvl you tame more advance pet. the beast tribe give you ability to tame they mounts as pets except bomb.
    beastmaster use Dex for combat. it dps job

    like in early version of Warcraft you have chief make advance food the pet like. pet have own exp bar more they improve the stronger they get.

    If it was added I wouldn't expecting anything huge like a tank. Summoners did finally get a decent sized summon but at least demni bahamut is ranged and not sitting on the boss' butt, and not there the whole fight. Sadly though I don't think the dev team would be able to pull off a WoW style of 'go out there and tame just about any animal.' But it would be cool if they did.

    Sorry, but this isn't #MakeEorzeaVanadielAgain. Honestly, I'd be all for beastmaster were it not for FFXI fans clamoring for how it was in their game rather than providing something different that would still retain the job's thematic identity (which isn't as hard as you'd think).

    On the plus side, I'm pretty sure Yoshi mentioned something along the lines of putting it into XIV in the VERY distant future.

    If XIV had the open world content to justify it, or allowed us to bring Companions into instances in some capacity (even just a potions/food style optional minor damage boost kinda thing), I'd say Beastmaster could be a non-Job that just builds on the Companion system tbh. Everyone would have the Chocobo by default, people who want to dive into such a system can go out and collect all manner of beasts to tame, train, and use... I think that'd be a better way to have a "true" Beastmaster system, than whatever limited mess we get stuck with via the current job system (I'm looking at you, Summoner).

    XI Beastmaster didn't use a whip though, it used one handed axes, and Savagelf mentioned Warcraft rather than XI... I think you're a bit too eager to hate on XI if you're jumping at shadows like that...

    I think you are missing the point entirely. People want elements of the job present in FF XIV. It doesn't have to BE Beastmaster from XI, but it wouldn't hurt to draw inspiration from it. They just shouldn't do what they did with SMN and basically copy > paste WoW's warlock. If BST were the equivalent of WoW's hunter class though? Oh man...I'd be living the dream. Hunter main in WoW, btw.

    Imo we'll seen BST when they'll tackle the pet system and fully rework it.
    This is obviously an expansion feature. So not before 6.0 if ever.

    Pet job are notoriously difficult to design. Just looking at WoW with the démo lock and Beastmaster hunter, it took them quite some time to reach a state where you feel your pet(s) are more (at least visually) than a glorified DoT

    I pefrer more vanilla beast hunter base some concepts . it awesome second beastmaster in ffxiv won't be base on ether of wow or ffxi

    beastmaster as job should be both complex and kind common sense in
    you have pet run away when you don't feed it this common sense. you need treat your pet better. but it won't permit for example the beastmaster would have haulbreak isle as stable yard and place for beastmaster quest hub

    I'd like the variation of bst as Morpher from FFTA, where you morph into the monster. We already have the existing assets in the game so with just enough tweaking, it could work.
