It is amazing that all of that is included in a regular WoW sub (max inventory/bank space, a better mobile app and a 6 month sub) which comes to $77 and currently they throw in a free mount. Yet people still defend Enix and claim the game isn't riddled with microtransactions. It would cost even more if you added alts in, which again are basic sub in WoW.

Don't get me wrong, BFA is rubbish, the OP wasn't being sensible and I love ff14, but jeez, $192 O.o

And if you add some cosmetic from the shop, it could raise to about $250-300 for 6 months ^.^

I agree with you on how ridiculous the add-on monthly costs are here, but this detail is wrong. The FFXIV costs you're comparing it to is for a standard subscription with up to 8 characters per world / 40 total. Paying 6 months at a time brings the standard sub down to the same monthly cost as an entry sub. (And the entry subscription is only available on a month by month basis. All the multi-month plans are for a standard subscription.)

Or, you know, contact support in the first place instead of making a scene on the boards.

Tbh, I don't see $200ish is such a high cost to pay when people easily spend just as much if not more on things they don't need.

I mean. People are willing to buy new smartphones at ludicrous prices when their old ones run perfectly fine (so long as they take care of them that is) Or even on the subject of video games, there are people that spend $60+ on games every month. (Which in 6 months is $360+)

This is an entertainment product and your subscription has specific days on which you have to pay. The charge is, frankly, easily seen and understandable. I don't see how you can fault Enix on this.

I work for the entertainment industry. No entertainment product or company needs to give the consumer what they want. It's the hope of the consumer that the product offered represents whatever our expectations are for the price paid.

That said, if you don't agree that the product presented is worthy of the cost, you, the consumer should not pay for it. If enough people were to not pay for a service or product that service or product will either be forced to change (for better or worse) or be no longer offered.

We as consumers always want the best from our products, but no company in the world can cater to everyone's expectations. I don't speak for Enix, nor am I defending Enix, but this is a basic principal of buisness between consumers and service providers/companies.

Tldr; It's up to you to properly manage your bills and budget. Recklessly spending and not tracking your expenditure is not the fault of any company when such spending is easily calculable from the information provided by the service.

WoW also got cosmetics... higher in individual prices. smaller (a lot) in quantity but wow get

Over the "cash shop in sub MMO is a shame. FF get a part that matters me even more :

Subscription for more storage. most F2P i did play get storage increase as 1 time-buy. Yes it can be expensiv. (and dont say me FFXIV it is 175, other game only 5... storage needed can vary from a game to another a lot)

Lets take a 2 euros retainer, that is now 4 years old... 48 month... 96 dollars in 1 retainer... and each month, the first retainer many of us had to take grow in cost...

Btw... taking all you took without taking time to a count on how much it will cost each month (or each 6 month) is your own fault (@op)

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

A: [...]these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Something to consider if you 'need' a lot of retainers for storage space: they will keep your items even if you cancel the subscription to those retainers. So if you have "long-term storage" items you want to keep but rarely use, you can put them on your highest-numbered retainer(s), then reduce the amount of retainers you have, and let those ones expire. Then you just hire them again occasionally (ideally at the start of a billing month) when you need to access those items.

It comes out to around a dollar a day, which isn't all that much for avid players who are on every day. For people with other interests as well, who only play this game occasionally, paying that much all the time just to have access to it can seem like a lot.

Subscription games in general are a better deal for the type of player who focuses on just one and plays it a lot than for players who jump back and forth playing various games sporadically. Higher ongoing costs just accentuates that difference.

With that pattern, it's ideally towards the end rather than beginning of a billing cycle. Whenever you add a retainer, you pay for it from that day until the end of your current subscription period and the cost is prorated according to how long that is. If you do it the day before your sub expires, it only costs 7 cents and you get it for a day, which should be long enough to log in and switch around what that retainer is holding. That's cheaper than paying $2 for a month or up to $12 for six months if you do it at the beginning of your subscription period (though in the later case, you would have access to him a lot longer of course).

It’s prorated but with a minimum price ($1? 1 euro? Somewhere around there) so you can’t get it quite that cheap, and hiring them late in the month is more expensive per day. But yes, you could calculate for the exact best benefit, or just go with “somewhere in the first half of the month”.
