For arm of the destroyer, the way a FC member tried to explain it to me is that its low potency makes it not worth the energy cost even with a high mob count, but I don't know I haven't mathed it out.New Ishgard content!!!
Isn't Arm of the Destroyer useful? There are very few AoE skills for monk. (But I haven't read a playguide so I may be doing it wrong.)
Fluid Aura is a Lv15 'quest prize' skill, so less likely to be removed.
Scathe is also a quest prize and has value, at least at lower levels, in being BLM's only instant-cast spell - letting you actually contribute in places like Copperbell's "spriggan horde" boss room where any individual enemy is dead in the time it takes to lock on and get halfway through casting a spell.
I'm sure there are a lot of skills that could double up this way. Not combo hits, but other 'occasional' skills that you can only ever use one at a time. Summoner's Aetherflow, Dreadwyrm Trance and Deathflare could all go together, as could Summon/Enkindle Bahamut.
Although I wonder if there's some kind of issue with switching in skills that have different recast timers, or something.
