For those of us who aren't up to speed, how many are needed for the weapon?

You need 31 Frosted Crystals so you need to fill up and convert them 31 times total. Plus 500 Pagos Crystals and 5 Louhi Ice. Per weapon.

To expand on this, counting on what you are focusing on would determine its viability to you.

Going the NM route will get you light for the Frosted Crystals*, an average of 12 Pagos Crystals per NM, and a small amount of Genysis seals.

The question becomes what do you want to focus on during a Pagos trip? For me, I want to tackle getting Pagos Crystals, generating lights, getting exp, and getting tomestones. The train will be the best viable path to take.

If I want to focus solely on Light, chaining may still be the best option.
If I want focus on getting tomestones quickly, I don't go into Pagos, I do DR.
If I want to focus on getting those 500 Pagos Crystals, the train route will be the best viable route.
