Had a bard in Castrum Abania last night who used nothing but heavy shot, straight shot, and raging strikes. No dots, no songs, no peloton, no refresh/tactician, not a single other skill. The only non-personal (i.e. dualcast) buffs anyone in our party had was from my embolden and the WHM's medica/regen.

Was she just terrible? Was she just bored? I don't know, I tried to ask but she was too busy dancing.

I get that most dungeons are ez-mode, but you're not making it go faster by using the bare minimum of skills to get through. My archer is too low for his bard job stone quest to even be in sight but I still know what half the skills/buffs look like, so I find it hard to believe she just didn't know they existed.

At least the replacement bard we got after we kicked her used his full range of skills, even going so far as to clense the tank during the final fight. I've only ever used vote kick twice (not counting offline players in 24-mans) but there's a difference between being a mediocre player and not even pretending to contribute for your carry.

I love you so much for that. I BLM main but tend to take SMN to raids (not always but even as BLM i have Erase and Mana Shift at the ready). I remember all the talk how BLM was trash when RDM came out and your comment made me laugh out loud. I had a similar experience to the OP in Lithouse when all our healers were dead and I waited a second to see which the one RDM was getting and the answer was 0. I said 'Rezmage' in chat while hardcasting the second healer's raise. He had already performed horribly the entire raid but he at least apologized for his lack of skill.

There is a special place in Hell for the players that do this after your party agreed that someone else would handle that mechanic by themselves so that you avoid too many people trying to move the mud blob screwing things up.

I keep seeing this in runs.

"Hey DPS A, can you handle moving the mud blob?"
"Sure, no problem"
"Cool. Okay, nobody else hit the mud blob."
Boss fight is going, DPS A does their job and moves the mud blob to the platform and then at the last second DPS B hits it and knocks it off the platform.

I've most often seen the healers take the mud pie, personally. Seems to keep the ball rolling with the least confusion, as long as the tank knows what they're doing enough to keep from dying while the healer does their thing.

It was just an example referencing the last run I had there where this happened and in that instance the healer was new and we had a bard that knew what to do.
Who would take the blob would really depend on the party comp and how familiar/comfortable the different members are with the mechanics, not to mention whether someone is even willing to or if they call it. I personally don't care who deals with it as long as it is being dealt with properly.

If they were only using three actions, I think it's safe to say they were doing way less than the bare minimum (doing a "Level 4 rotation" in a level 69 dungeon is bad).

At least, I learned something. Remember the 3 platform boss with the weird plants in the middle? Ye. You can actually wipe there. Like, a total wipe out. Never seen that happen before.
I have to say, I laughed quite a lot though, so while it was the worst run I ever had in WoD, I was amused a lot.

I think I've seen a wipe on that once. Also, I don't think Atomos is a plant. I think it's just a Voidsent with a big mouth. Usually he's a Summon.

Back in I think 3.4 I farmed sephirot until 99 totems. On the SECOND totem run a bird dropped and I rolled in the 90's. I didn't win and this loss cost me an additional 97 clears. Most everything that could go wrong did. My favorite is when someone else messes up, only 3 people can take tethers and I am an orange, being tagreted for bullets of doom. My tether is the one that doesnt get taken, I die. I call for someone else to take the left tower and you know who answers the call?

Suffice to say it was a swift wipe. Unfortunately it's not any better with unsyncs as a lot of people assume "Oh hey we're a higher level we can just skip every mechanic!"

Don't do that on some heavensward primals. You can and will still die if you try to cheese some.

That happens on ARR EX Primals, too. You'd be amazed how many times you have to tell people to stop hitting Ifrit or Ramuh. At least Tanks can survive Leviathan.

I have seen many types of crowned players: tanks who never read mob aggro list; never notice their teammates are being attacked, and never use any defense abilities; healers who grab aggro from mobs scarce around just because they thought they are tank; no esuna nor swiftcast; no utilities or regen, just heal spam without even managing mana pool; DPS who selfishly draw mobs when tanks aren't ready; bad rotations and never fix them (it would be a different case if they are recen return player), OR specific DPS like Summoner and RDM who decides to go full DPS and not raising healers when they die from mobs (seriously, recent update increased role abilities cap to 10 and how CAN'T you bring Swiftcast with you!?).

"Mentor"s like this are why I don't wear my crown anymore... Pretty sure 99% of people do it just for the chat channel, squenix, please just give a gen chat channel so we can get actual mentors in here again...
No real DF stories this time sadly, outside of my growing rage towards group that take well over 10 tries to run O11N.

Was in the Vault, had a pld that literally popped every cool down (including hallowed ground) at the start of a boss fight and on small packs. Ate every mechanics and stood in the aoes, same with the DPS.

In PoTD 51-60 spam, tank got upset because we didn't want to save rage pomanders for the boss....
Dude wanted to save witchings and rages so we could all transform...

I just don't understand how people are this bad with content this old.

I'm still working through the MSQ, and tonight I did Solm Al. Halfway through the instance, one of the DPS apologized for his poor damage and his tendency to get one-shotted; apparently his gear was broken and he never noticed. We did finish the instance though.
