Got a controller today and first time in my life ever use one so I chose Satasha as a start to practice using and getting familiar with the controller. Of course my performance is poorer than that when I play with my mouse & keyboard, but there is a level 22 gladiator whose movement were awkward and their tank were not so good. I realized that it was a new player and I knew I had to be patient with new players.

Then there was a RDM with a Mentor tag calling our tank "a bot" because he was annoyed by this person's playstyle. Sorry for people who agree with this RDM (I'm sure there's a lot of you), but I very hate these people who cannot have a nice, or at least, respectable word to help this new tank, especially when they have a "Mentor" tag. This really reminds me when I played in Japanese DB worlds when people were so nice and patient to each other.

Now I start to slowly see the dark side of the western FFXIV community...

Are you certain the tank wasn’t a bot? Did he respond to the RDM calling him a bot? And if was a struggling real player why didn’t you help him? You don’t need a crown to give advice and you shouldn’t wait for someone with a crown to pipe up, either.

To respond to your answer, yes, I did help him in showing him what to do. And yes, this person did respond with a sorry and confirmed that he is new to tanking in MMORPG.

Have you ever thought of the day when you first start doing something and it goes really bad and people laugh and talk bad at you? If you don't, then feel free to keep calling new adventurers who are learning "bots". Sure you wasn't a bot when you start learning things in MMORPG anyway.

Dont underestimate the power of the dark side

I was considered as a bot once too. I found that hilarious

Ppl are sometimes quick to judge.

In darkness, in cold, in the midst of winter where nothing walks the world but death and fear let the brave rejoice: I call the light.
Out of darkness, light. Ouf of silence, song. Ouf of the sun´s death, the birth of each year. Out of cold, fire. Out of death, life. Out of fear, courage to see the day. (Elizabeth Moon - The Deed of Paksenarrion)

I see people are already very selective about what they want in Expert Roulettes. Just had no less than five other players bail before the dungeon even started because we got The Burn. I guess they really don't want to deal with the final boss, even though Arboretum's final boss causes just as many wipes. One DPS was new and stuck around along with me. Our other starting DPS re-queued as tank after we had our 2nd tank instant-bail in a row. We went through 3 other DPS before we finally got one that stayed for longer than 5 seconds. Once we finally got a full party going, we had no issues whatsoever clearing. Like if you really want Arboretum Hard that bad, just queue for it directly instead of wasting everyone's time. Beating the final boss isn't rocket science.

    Awww.
    O10N.
Go in for my weekly loot, get a party where people are constantly dying to stuff (AoEs, Earth Shakers, Akh Morn with 7 people stacked...) and nothing is accomplished. Stayed there for a while. The last run was good, but then both healers and the Summoner ate all their Earth Shakers together, and we voted abandon.
The sad part here being that the people in the party were really nice and supportive of each other. Really hoped for everyone there to get a clear.

I ran a Lighthouse with something I haven't seen in a long time. There was this Bard who would not stick with the party. I noticed it during Mateas, but didn't pay it much mind. There's a lot of stuff going on and people usually run all willy nilly. But then during Belias, everyone is usually on the center square. But not her, she was off on the sides doing stuff. Everytime, without fail, she was outside of Succor or Indom range. And then during the Math robot fight, after the math phase where everyone gathers in the middle for heals, she was off doing not that. You'd think it'd be common sense to group up after that for heals. And then during Yiazmat, everytime she'd die, it's be way the heck over there away from the party.

I got to give kudos to the other healer for having more patience than me. Because I'm pretty sure that was the only reason the Bard lived as long as she did. But after the Math Blaster even that healer gave up on her and she started hitting the ground more. And it was funny too because she'd always complain about the mechanics. Like Dispose. Dispose does suck. But I throw down a Sacred Soil and pop an Indom if looks dicey. And again, she was out of range.

Earlier tonight, im trying to farm up my Alpha parts for the week. See a PF for Alpha 4 that says something like "Pls stay for multiple runs so everyone can get their loot". I think, thats an alright idea. Gives me more shots at the mini too. Im down. Join up. Party is full and ques in a min or two later. First phase of the fight is fairly clean(i will admit i was mostly watching my own actions, but i didnt see a TON of deaths), breeze through the DPS check, on to the chaos portion. As the pull goes on, two of the DPS seem to be dying to every other move(a dragoon and a summoner) while one of the healers is having a hard time staying up too. Things slowly spiral into a wipe at about 40%. Mechanics refreshers are posted in chat. Pull 2. We barely fail the DPS check(one more spell might have pulled it out) because 3 DPS(everyone but me) died to the purple marker being too close to the stack marker. Refreshers in chat. Pull 3. Sail through the first phase, blow away the DPS check, on to the chaos portion. The same players are having the same trouble from pull one, similar wipe. At this point the 'goon starts going on and on about how the tanks arent positioning the meteors right(he doesnt want to move). Someone else(not a tank) argues that its easier if the tanks keep the bosses still and the rest of us position in decent safe spots(DPS for this party was SMN SMN DRG and me on BLM, so the rest of the party could be away from the boss without uptime issues). By now both tanks have left the group, and we're back outside the instance. Guy starts saying that the SMN doesnt understand mechanics since he isnt wearing any savage gear. This was when i politely said goodbye. Not enough hours in the day to listen to someone saying that he's better then the rest of us because he bought a savage clear last tier. If youre reading this, consider how much more weight your argument would have if you had been the DPS not messing up mechanics. And for gods sake, this is normal mode man. Doing mechs right and living is way more important then shooting for 100% uptime.

No more PFs up, so i go to DF ques. Clear A4 easily in my next group, no loot. Clear A4 easily in my next group, got my loot. At this point im queing for both A1 and 2 since i want a bolt and a pedal. Get a couple Middy groups in a row(no loot wins though). Last middy group has a new tank, but everyone else seems to know what theyre doing. First fight we wipe at around 40% - group got too spread out and couldnt stack in time for ahk morn. Chat asks if anyone has any questions, and everyone seems fine. Go again. Fight is going well. Around 10% the dragoon triggers LB3. Somehow half the party dies(maybe lightning bolts?) and middy flies off screen. Its a tank, RDM, and my BLM standing and trying to dodge flares and cauterizes. RDM looks fairly low on mana, and not knowing if he had enough to try and raise a healer i throw a mana shift on him. The 3 of us manage to avoid the avoidable attacks, RDM gets a healer back up, and shortly after im helping to burn the last couple percent off the bosses health bar. I comment while everyone rolls for loot that i dont think i ever shifted a RDM before. I win nothing, RDM immediately leaves. So if a RDM from i want to say the Malboro server is reading this and it sounds familiar, i just wanted to say good job. And i wasnt trying to insult you with what i said(i hope you didnt read that as an insult), just more amazed than anything that i shifted another caster. Normally i only shift healers and bards, so this was different. But like i said, i have no idea how much mana a raise is so better safe then sorry.

I'm sure it's common to have stories like that with new normal mode content, but still...

1: I was WHM in O12N and my co-healer was a French-only WHM with an ilvl 260(!) weapon. They seemed to at least know the mechanics, but were standing in the middle whenever possible and casting Cure III around themselves. Sometimes Medica II or Cure. One Asylum, one Lucid Dreaming. Nothing else besides Raise. No Assize, no Tetragrammaton, no Divine Benison. I think they once pressed Aero II accidentally. Somehow we made it after a few tries with me focusing on healing the Tanks while some of the DPS sometimes coincidentally stacked together in the middle for AoE heals so the WHM sometimes even hit them with their Cure III.

2: Again as WHM, but in O11N. The co-healer was a new SCH together with her RDM boyfriend and most of the others were also new. Of course I immediately noticed Eos on sic. Her friend died to a mechanic first and she did the /laugh emote on him multiple times. I also noticed that she didn't grasp the mechanics at all. After a few wipes, she didn't die as much anymore but NEVER went into the circles after the Level Checker appears and died because of that. How can you not notice that mechanic, especially after like five tries and people telling you what to do? Well, other than that, she was also a really bad healer. The only healing spells she constantly used were Succor and Indomitability. She didn't even use them when people needed healing, it was more randomly as she used Succor when only 2 people had lost like 20% HP and still had a shield, but she usually seemed to ignore everyone but herself for single-target healing. She used their Aetherflow stacks ONLY for Indomitability. During most pulls she didn't even cast ONE single-target heal, not even when the Tank or anyone else was at low health. During some of them she at least VERY rarely used Physick on herself and on the MT. And like 3 Miasmas. No Resurrection even though many were dying constantly. As most people were new, we didn't clear this fight of course. I thought maybe she usually plays SMN instead of SCH but she also had WHM at lvl 70 and according to her Lodestone profile she's been playing for quite a while already.

3: What's it with the extremely bad couples playing together as DPS in Expert Roulette recently? I swear, every time my boyfriend and I get another couple in those dungeons (identifiable by the same last names and their confessions for each other in their search infos), everything takes SOOO long. DRG not using Heavy Thrust, no one using AoEs on trash pulls. At least the SAM used some AoE after I asked them to. Doesn't help that they get hit by every mechanic during the boss fights.
But then again, we had a great and extremely fast Arboretum run yesterday with a BRD and SAM (though they were no couple I think xD) who used AoEs until they were out of TP. Sorry that I almost only got Spires when you were full during bosses.
