    Blue Mage in all the titles it appeared had a mess of abilities, yes, but how many were actually useful?

    Who really wants level based abilities?

    ...what...? Quite a lot, actually. I can name more than 30 quite quickly, if I didn't feel it was an utter waste of time.

    Besides, what's the point of calling a person that can only learn a hard cap of 'x' abilities a blue mage anyway? It would be a gimp.

    Outside of XI and even then, blue mage has always had a hard cap on abilities unless you want to share that knowledge of how let's say Quina can learn more than the 24 abilities available to them. Most of which would be useless in an MMO.

    And those people you "know" who'd want level based abilities are awful as they'd be useless in most content.
