I was saying it's not a false analogy. I was saying there are levels of activities within the game with different reward structures each directly proportional to the effort that you invest in them. RP and decoration being pretty much just self fulfilment, crafting money, eureka to get good gear for casual players, raid to get the best kind of gear for the players who like a challenge.

I disagree. The game does not offer roleplaying a reward structures. It does not offer house decorating with reward structures except via contest hosted on the forums. And chatting with the FC does not have a reward structures either. Players engaging in these activities have no expectations of rewards from the game, especially good gear.

For playing since the beginning, I come up to say that; at the end, everything is just an achievement for glamour. (Redo Glamour system again please. So many better examples out there.)

Some people like max ilv, but can't raid. I always see the ilv formula in this game as... Release max ilv at beginning of tier, then catch up on the following next patch. Won't be able to min-max everything, unless you do raids.

The whole thing is a vertical progression. I don't think they have enough assets or time to do a horizontal progression. On second thought, they could add a 3rd line of end max ilv gear to fix this, but assets.

Except, it isn't. The person quoted specified a time investment. But for argument's sake, normal mode raids, EX Primals and even dungeons offer decent gear. Replace any one of them with the aforementioned roleplay example and their point still stands; you aren't partaking in the most difficult content. Therefore, you aren't entitled to the best rewards.

For some people, the most difficult content could be the sightseeing log for Stormblood because of the Kugane Jump tower puzzle. You don't get the best rewards from that either, gear or otherwise.

Now you're contradicting yourself. Per your own words, roleplaying and chatting aren't equal to Eureka because they don't offer a reward structure. The sightseeing log falls under those same perimeters. Therefore, we can only compare battle related content. In that context, it's object fact Savage is the most difficult content in the game. Hence why it offers the best gear based rewards. And before you going bringing up Ultimate. That exists solely for the challenge. The reward is simply clearing it.

Tbh I can't believe we are 32 pages in and this person still doesn't understand why raiders get the gear we do.

Apparently not since previous posters have pointed out that gear doesn't truly matter and the real worth of a player is skill. The reward for raiding could be as simple as getting a shiny new achievement checked off in the log and people would still do it. And it would a paradox if raiders needed the end raid reward to beat the raid. That raid gear is only in effect a participation ribbon, so it's purely superfluous.

Well as I said earlier in another post I feel like as the WoL we are obligated to be using our power for something. An expansion where we just get to explore and learn about the world is also an expansion where things like the oppression by Garlemald and the scheming of the Ascians is left to fester.
I mean we were not chosen by Hydaelyn to defeat Garlemald but to defeat the Ascians and end their threat and I do question if we do enough for that part. For me it feels more like we are taking care of mortal conflicts and just find out that an Ascian is behind it and not trying to find the Ascians and deal with them. So we could still have a expansion were we try to find out more about them, maybe even stopping some of their plans and still be more of a adventurer. I mean even without a war we still can help people with our power.

But thats probably all subjective and I fear that we are just starting another war in the next one. My poor WoL will have a crisis if that stress is going on and on. x)'

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
