I'm sure someone will try to discredit this because they no idea how many times this has been stated by multiple developers. Players insisting everyone with a negative opinion leave and trying to shut down discussion is doing more damage to games.
The thing is I can understand that its getting frustrating if you absolutely love the game and just see constant negative posts about it. But some people really need to remember that those that post at least still care enough to post and not just leave silenty. (I mean some would probably be happy about that but thats not healthy for a game either) And for me I just feel like SE did a lot wrong. Thus I complain more. But I am also one that will give them thumps up if they deserve it in my view. But sadly there was not enough from their side to get that from me recently.

Its just a bit funny if it comes from people that have pages over pages of complains in different threads but as soon as its about a topic they like its bad to complain. That is something that annoys me a bit because it comes over as a bit wrong..

In the end I am happy for anyone that are happy with the game and I wont go into a "I love x in FF14, what do you love about it"-thread and post negative thoughts about it because that would just be a bit petty. The same with the other side. I just never understand why people need to post the question of why a thread is still alive instead of just ignoring it. x) I mean those keep the thread alive even longer with each of such a post.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Criticism is one thing, but something somewhat unique to MMORPGs that I've noticed is that many people will let the game stop being merely a game they play and let it transform into a lifestyle. The consequence of this is that many of these players will hang around for years after they stopped really having fun, complaining about every little thing, because they can't come to terms with quitting the game and instead keep playing it in some vain hope that it will spontaneously be as fun as they remember it being. I'm not going to accuse any specific person of that here because I don't use these forums enough to really recognize anyone, let alone know their posting history, but there is definitely a point where complaining ceases to be useful and people really should just quit because they are the problem.
