Wow. Absolutely no moderation to clean up the trolling and +1'ing, but yet the thread was moved. Bravo, moderation team.

Yeah... no kidding. I don't mind people voicing their opinion (like I am), but the trolling is just... sad and pathetic.

Yes, but that money goes TOWARDS something tangible. Even casinos go towards something tangible - the gamble of possibly winning more than you started with. These surcharges don't make any sort of "real world" kind of sense. You should 'get' something for spending money. And no, saving ~30 seconds isn't "getting" something.

And yes, this is a game and not real life, but that's a pretty irrelevant argument. I might as well say, "Why are there humans in this game? This isn't real life!" or any number of similar, but pointless arguements.

There's been research on in-game markets with the goal of explaining real-world economics through analysis of closed systems (in-game markets). They're more similar than you might think, even considering it's not "real world"

Far as people saying they like the market wards... what about how some wards get full and you can't put your retainer there? What about how it doesn't tell you which of your items sold (or when), and the only way to figure it out is to keep a list of what you've put in your bazaar? What about the fact that it's just a huge mob of NPCs standing there, looking completely out of place, when it doesn't serve any real purpose beyond being a time sink?

Flea markets have their place in the real world. But the market wards looks like Batallia Downs did in FFXI - tons of bazaars open. The difference here is that we can now make a giant star appear over what we're looking for... but its every bit as much of an eyesore, at the very least.

No, actually saving time is getting something. Pay a small surcharge, and you save time. Expanding on your logic that saving time is not worth paying for, you shouldn't dare touch the airships. Run from city to city all the time. Don't even spend anima, because apparently you don't consider time saved as time gained.

If you want some "real world" kind of sense, then the surcharge is a delivery charge for having the retainer bring it up to you. If you walk to the retainer for a pick-up, you don't get charged a delivery fee. This can be found in every aspect of real life transactions.

The arguments of 95%+ of people against this new surcharge for the direct purchase all sound like layers upon layers of fluff and BS covering what you're all actually trying to say:

"I want a traditional AH and I don't care what anyone else wants because I am entitled to a traditional AH just like all the other MMOs and so I won't settle for anything less...derp derp derp etc."

Now tell me, how is one supposed to take a post honestly and seriously when all they see is a variation of that sentence extended into 3+ paragraphs filled with contradicting, misinformed, and/or non-cohesive drivel.

So believe me, I'm doing a favor for this thread when I say:

Hmmm... I ordered some pizza from Dominoes just today and had it delivered. They charged me $1.69 for a delivery fee. So i guess the real world doesn't make any sort of "real world" sense then, huh.

Indeed, the ignorance and lack of thought by the people who frequent these boards makes me do this:

Implement 5,000 gil charge for repairs
Implement 5,000 gil charge for airship
Implement 5% (max 4,000) gil charge for instant market ward transactions

WHY YOU GIL SINK MY SHIP!#!)$
