I recall people giving barely a crap about Diadem 2.0, as well as interest dying in Diadem 1.0 around the time that I returned to the game from my first break. From Diadem 1.0 people were able, for a short time, to receive gear with insanely good secondary stats if they were lucky enough; like I knew someone who got pants for his Sch that were better than raid drop drops at the time. SE apparently nerfed the chances of that happening by the time I came back to the game, and the best drops from Diadem weren't so hot or desired anymore. So people got their Pegasus mounts if they could, and they GTFO unless they were a gatherer looking to farm mats for the i210 anima step.

When Diadem 2.0 came out, people noticed the i280 weapons and just enough bitched about it that Yoshi had to say that we should keep in mind how low the droprate is for the weapon, as well that the person getting the weapon might not get it for the job they play. The Emergency Mission was sort of neat, but it required more coordination between 72+ people than, well... You've seen how things get exponentially worse trying to PUG four-man, eight-man, and 24-man content. With that, Diadem 2.0 died fast.

After that it wasn't until this past February or March, around the time of Anemos relevance, that Diadem 2.0 picked up again for people trying to get achievements, minions, or the mount. Even that seems to have calmed down a fair bit.

I'm talking about the original Diadem that released 210 aetherial gear with random stats. I personally enjoyed Diadem even though I never got that dream piece. Remember all the gear was nerfed when i210 stopped dropping and the gold box RNG was reduced. Once that happened, Diadem instantly died. Never was the same again.

You have failed to answer one question. Why should you be rewarded for doing essentially brain dead content? Raid gear is the focal point because it's the hardest content offered. If i370 gear were available from quests, normal mode trials, dungeon and etc, Savage has literally no purpose for existing, and would promptly die. All because you want gear that is hilariously overpowered outside Savage?
I'm not talking about normal mode dungeons, normal mode trials, and random easy quests. Just because I'm a casual doesn't mean I don't enjoy stuff that requires you to think. I don't do the raids anymore because they're boring and unrewarding time and again. The point was that any end-game content is automatically dead on arrival because it must be weaker than whatever the raid gear is which isn't even that much better than non-upgraded tome gear.
Shoot, the amount of life you need to sacrifice doing Eureka should be enough for the relic to be i400 at this point.

Admittedly, yes SE needs to find a better alternative than very small ilvl increases, but devaluing raid gear won't accomplish anything except pissing off a core foundation of your audience.
I'd agree if the raid gear had value but it doesn't. It's not a huge boost compared to default tome gear and it loses all value by the catch up patch. Then next patch, the crafted gear is better than raid gear. Every. Single. Time..

The idea that raid gear is limiting casual gear progression has one gaping hole in it and that is the idea that there has to be only a 20 to 25 ilvl increase per raid update.

They could make 4.4's Alphascape reward whatever they wanted. It could, for the sake of this example, reward i450. There could be a ton more casual gear progression within that gap. The issue there is actually something you outlined in the earlier bits of your post about glamour - SE isn't going to sink the time and money into making 12 gear sets per patch.

Sure, balancing fights would be a touch harder. I'm sure they could work out an appropriate ilvl sync to make this function as people geared up. Perhaps reducing overall ilvl proportionally to the amount of i450 raid gear equipped so that i450 would still be functionally superior without breaking a raid upon release.

My point isn't that I think this should happen, I don't think there is anything wrong with the current system beyond perhaps it's staleness, but please don't try to blame raiders and raiding for your lack of casual gear progression. SE could 100% give you more and more nuanced gear progression but they don't, likely for the same reason we see even the current minimal gear prog so heavily gated. If they can make 3 sets of gear for five months and just aggressively limit how quickly that gear can be acquired they save money.

And yet there doesn't seem to be enough asian sets in the game. Samurai only get one set of non-glam "Samurai Armor" and it's this over-designed asymmetrical nightmare. I want better options than this:

Okay so if you don't raid why do you need raid level gear? If you think non raid gear aren't worth getting because they are not as good as raid gear then why don't you just start raiding?

I think this game is beginning to fade (die) and I do hope it does, all I ask is that the next Final Fantasy MMO has the Miqo'te and Hyur races so I can import my characters from this game and continue in the new one!...
How dare you saying that this game will and hope dies??! Be ashamed of yourself!! Your comment is not considerate and helpful to the conversation at all...
If you are unhappy with the game just stop your sub nobody force you to play.

They didn't nerf it. The chances of getting useful gear like that were generally very low. The outcry was more from raiders in the world first tier who felt obligated to farm diadem for the very low chance at BIS gear, if I remember right.

Diadem in both incarnations really wasn't that bad. The main issue I remember was it not beign worth staying around to pop the missions after you did your main mission there.

I was trying to avoid responding to this thread as my thoughts on this subject I've stated over and over again but a comment above triggered me and thus I could not stay silent any longer. For those wishing Yoshi was "gone", why? Because he won't only listen to the hardcore minority and is only trying to keep everyone happy? (And hardcore players are a minority, Yoshi's statements in the past about extreme content completion being surprisingly low is proof of that). Remember that it was because of Yoshi this game was successful in the first place after the utter apocalyptic disaster that was FFXIV 1.0. And attacking him and his development team simply because he won't turn this game into an old-school hardcore-centric grind fest will only result in being ignored by the very people you want to listen to you at the very least, if not earning a ban (attacking the development team is against the ToS after all).

I've said it before and I'll say it again: this game is designed to offer something for everyone, casual and hardcore players included. It simply will never totally be "PvP-only" or 'casual only' or "hardcore raiding" or focused on any other one aspect or gameplay style. If you're looking for a hardcore FF MMO FFXI is this way.

Yoshi has demonstrated time and time again that he is willing to listen to players and try to work with them in making this game something everyone is happy to play, however, they have to draw a line somewhere where what players may like may not work or fit with the way the game is designed or functions. It is simply not possible for them to add every "good idea" that a player may have or request. That is just being realistic. So "wishing for him to be replaced" simply because your demands are not met just comes across as spiteful and unappreciative for everything he has done and continues to do for this game and it's millions of players.

As for hating flight in the game, if you don't like it, don't fly then? There is only several short temporary points in the game where you are expected to fly, every other time it's simply a bonus. So demanding that SE remove it comes across as more 'gameplay fascism' - "I don't like it so no one else should have it!" Hey, I dislike PvP and I don't play it, but I don't want it removed from the game either because I know other players do like it and play it. It's all about personal choice.

If you don't want to fly, keep your mount on the ground and run around then (or run around on foot). Don't deny others of that if they enjoy it simply because you do not.

I think that many things in any game change over time, they evolve or adapt to trends. Players cannot be satisfied 100% of the time about everything, there are things the we love and things that we hate. Like me for example hate endless grinding for stuff like Eureka etc but that’s fine.
The OP say that raids right now are more like trials and he miss the time when they were mini dangeouns, but that’s personal taste.

I definitely agree with Miss Moro said earlier (:

Anyway, what I really don’t like and it’s really disappointing for me (try to explain in little words) is:
Every patch released the gap between new/youngest/ fresh 70s players and expert players decrease instead of increase, by saying that I mean now all players reaching lvl 70 with the mendacities uncapped will the able to from 290 to 360, spam Ridorana few times and one they get 370 can jump right away in the new Savage raids.I mean that’s totally unfair for players that are in game since much longer and did all the way to reach a certain level. I started with 290 and progress little by little to 330/340, then 350 and at last 360/370. Probably that happens for a matter of making money and they make progression not to long or difficult but still is unfair that new players got their life in game simplified.
Long story short they should stop uncapping currencies every even patch.

Telling you guys this coming tier progressing in savage raids from pugs will be 10 time worst!! Colonies of noobs with no experience will start to land in the new Alphascape Savage with 370 gears and no enough knowledge about savage our their own class.
