eureka has no flying and dangerous mobs, by all accounts people hate it for being tedious. open world mobs won't be more rewarding or less tedious if they did this.

If Eureka had compelling gameplay, you wouldn't be able to get me out of there. Anemos and (so I've heard) Pagos are gorgeous and fun to explore for the new sights alone. But the core element of gameplay, and what you're intended to do to progress in the zone, is so god-awful I can't stomach it. Mobs can be threatening without being HP sponges or 1-hit KO machines. But you wouldn't know that based on how SE designed them.
Stormblood has been more of the same, over and over again, and it hasn't elicited the most positive response from players. YoshiP has said he has enough story to last the game for several expansions more... is there gameplay to back it up? Different combat content to keep things fresh? DoH/DoL deliveries or quests to shift away from the tried-and-true approach? I get the feeling there will be a small mutiny in the playerbase if 5.0 is revealed and it's still ARR but a different colour... it feels like XIV stuck on repeat but they're taking away more than they're adding for most players. Maybe focusing so hard on niche content and Eureka was not the wisest choice this round.

This is revisionist history. Everyone despised Diadem from the day it released. The devs didn't adjust it because of raiders, they adjusted due to no one wanting to participate in what ironically proved to be the beta test for Pagos. In fact, a very common complaint amongst casual players was the i280 weapon, which many felt was a slap across the face given the relic could be outdone by a random pick piece. Most hardcore raiders didn't give a damn as by that point, they had long since beaten Creator into the ground.
You have failed to answer one question. Why should you be rewarded for doing essentially brain dead content? Raid gear is the focal point because it's the hardest content offered. If i370 gear were available from quests, normal mode trials, dungeon and etc, Savage has literally no purpose for existing, and would promptly die. All because you want gear that is hilariously overpowered outside Savage? Admittedly, yes SE needs to find a better alternative than very small ilvl increases, but devaluing raid gear won't accomplish anything except pissing off a core foundation of your audience.
I recall people giving barely a crap about Diadem 2.0, as well as interest dying in Diadem 1.0 around the time that I returned to the game from my first break. From Diadem 1.0 people were able, for a short time, to receive gear with insanely good secondary stats if they were lucky enough; like I knew someone who got pants for his Sch that were better than raid drop drops at the time. SE apparently nerfed the chances of that happening by the time I came back to the game, and the best drops from Diadem weren't so hot or desired anymore. So people got their Pegasus mounts if they could, and they GTFO unless they were a gatherer looking to farm mats for the i210 anima step.
When Diadem 2.0 came out, people noticed the i280 weapons and just enough bitched about it that Yoshi had to say that we should keep in mind how low the droprate is for the weapon, as well that the person getting the weapon might not get it for the job they play. The Emergency Mission was sort of neat, but it required more coordination between 72+ people than, well... You've seen how things get exponentially worse trying to PUG four-man, eight-man, and 24-man content. With that, Diadem 2.0 died fast.
After that it wasn't until this past February or March, around the time of Anemos relevance, that Diadem 2.0 picked up again for people trying to get achievements, minions, or the mount. Even that seems to have calmed down a fair bit.
They didn't nerf it. The chances of getting useful gear like that were generally very low. The outcry was more from raiders in the world first tier who felt obligated to farm diadem for the very low chance at BIS gear, if I remember right.
Diadem in both incarnations really wasn't that bad. The main issue I remember was it not beign worth staying around to pop the missions after you did your main mission there.
I'm talking about the original Diadem that released 210 aetherial gear with random stats. I personally enjoyed Diadem even though I never got that dream piece. Remember all the gear was nerfed when i210 stopped dropping and the gold box RNG was reduced. Once that happened, Diadem instantly died. Never was the same again.
Shoot, the amount of life you need to sacrifice doing Eureka should be enough for the relic to be i400 at this point. I'm not talking about normal mode dungeons, normal mode trials, and random easy quests. Just because I'm a casual doesn't mean I don't enjoy stuff that requires you to think. I don't do the raids anymore because they're boring and unrewarding time and again. The point was that any end-game content is automatically dead on arrival because it must be weaker than whatever the raid gear is which isn't even that much better than non-upgraded tome gear.
I'd agree if the raid gear had value but it doesn't. It's not a huge boost compared to default tome gear and it loses all value by the catch up patch. Then next patch, the crafted gear is better than raid gear. Every. Single. Time..Admittedly, yes SE needs to find a better alternative than very small ilvl increases, but devaluing raid gear won't accomplish anything except pissing off a core foundation of your audience.

Aye, I'm aware. Diadem still wasn't popular due to being, ironically, very similar to Pagos, albeit with mobs having far less HP. Considering how immensely challenging Gordias was. I can't exactly fault raiders for feeling cheated when someone can spam 1-2-3 and get a better body piece than someone progressing on the hardest content the game ever released short of Ultimate.
Correction, Pagos. Anemos was laughably easy—to the point people had multiple full sets in weeks. Regardless, that is an issue with Pagos' horrendously poor design philosophy not a raid focus mentality. At the time of the day, you're still mindlessly spamming buttons whereas Savage demands significantly more from you.
This is entirely subjective. Considering upgrade items are not available until four months following each tier's release, the stat boosts are fairly significant. Nonetheless, I reiterate, why should you get the best gear available whilst doing trivial content? You claim people have no incentive yet you argue to rob that incentive from raids. If I can get i400 gear upon 4.4's release from a random dungeon drop, why purpose does Savage serve? It becomes relegated to "beat it a couple times for fun and never touch it again" because the gear is instantly worthless when I can obtain it elsewhere. Players uninterested in Savage have no use for max ilvl gear. Dungeons have become so laughably easy, you can mass pull at minimum ilvl and hardly break a sweat. All you solution accomplishes is destroying Savage.
You're misunderstanding what I meant. I'll say it again, I'm not talking about getting top-end gear from little dungeons or FATE farms. I know that content needs to have some sort of difficulty or special grind involved to grant gear that's as strong or stronger than the raid gear. I'm referring to new methods to get gear that aren't raids.
The raid system is exactly the same in pattern except the raids are trials now. I'm tired of raids. Or at least Omega. I'm taking about things that could benefit both raiders and non-raiders. 1.0 was that kind of thing. In the end, a high level raider could also get super-powered piece of i210. The difference being that they actually know how to use it. Diadem was the first kind of horizontal progression we ever had. Diadem had incentive. That's a fact. Raids? You do them, gear up. And then what? Nothing that's released in the next 6 months will have any use to you and you won't even get Ultimate anymore(right?). So just quit until raid cycle reset? Where crafted gear is better than your awesome raid gear? I guess if you like it then hey.. but to me it's bad. To me anyway. We need gear worth something. As it stands all gear in the game is released already trash...
Oh, and I also don't like how everything is so easy. I did say that in the opening post after all. So please, understand I'm not talking about getting i380 gear from expert roulette. Howeverrrr if they made something where you had to do 100 expert roulettes to get a piece of powerful gear then maybe I might accept it xD.
Listen, easier said than done. I didn't demand anything at all and I most definitely said it was just my opinion. It's how I feel. It's like telling people to wear no gear all the time to make things hit harder. Or telling people to only use attacks up to lv60 if they want to kill things slower. Sure, you can tell them that but what are the odds of them actually doing it? And just because they don't want to doesn't mean they're okay with it currently and it doesn't mean there is no issue with the game.
