FATE train, do you like it ?

I've been wondering what people really felt about FATE train kind of content.
Do you enjoy it ? And why ? Do you hate it ? Also, why ?

I, personally, don't like it, at all.
To be more accurate, I do enjoy the concept of FATE in general. Things like FATE chain with a little backstory (like those FATE near the bridge in Eastern Thanalan) or the occasional boss FATE like K.Behemoth, Ixion etc.

As long as it's occasional, meaningfull and there is some degree of gameplay/difficulty involved, it's cool.

However, since ARR, they keep feeding us with FATE train for end game content (remember Atma farming), and I honnestly don't see the fun in that.
There is absolutly no difficulty, gameplay wise it's almost non-existent; most of the players are half-AFK, using a few skills here and there and there is not real interaction between players. You just keep rotating between the same FATE over and over again, mindlessly.

And it's the same with Eureka.
Although they made the levelling/exploration of the zone interesting with the overall increased difficulty, death penalty, elemental strenghs/weaknesses which incent players to group-up and help each others, the "end game" of Eureka is still the same old, boring train fate.

But as much as I hate it, I guess the majority of the player base must at least enjoy it, since they keep doing it.

Wont say I love it but... Well if it can make me leave that boring "going back to grind fate like in 2.0" of a place faster I'll gladly sell my soul to it without a doubt in my heart.

Oh you talk about the feature itself... I despise them SOOOOOOOOO much, I'd rather watch a tree growing for an hour rather than doing it but well I want those relic for glamour reason so I suck it up and do lalafell evil-plot on the side.

I don't even like Ixion/Behemot/Odin/whocare fate, they are just brainless zerg fest, I'd rather fight them in a trial/trial Ex cause... its more fun ?

I Like Eureka. You don't need to watch a Mr. Happy Video 10 times to do it xD.

It's OK. If you think there's no interaction between players, that says more about how you play it than anything. In Eureka, my groups chat while doing fates in party or shout and I've definitely stopped by to do fates I didn't have interest in just because I saw people struggling with them in the open world. When fate grinding was a common way to level, it definitely led to a bunch of people who were playing solo coming together in a group to make it easier, which is a good content design consequence in an MMORPG.

Noooooope. Didn't even try N. Thanalan train and 6 levels of Eureka were enough for me. Devs should look into Rift or maybe Guild Wars 2 to see how to do open world dynamic events.

I hate FATES in general, one of the worst and overused content in this game.

Yes Hunts are pretty much the same, and it was boring as hell when it was "required" to progress back in 2.X.

But no, I don't mean open world content in general.
I'd love more open world content, but not zerg train like that. Group/Alliance open world content. Maybe trigger pop boss/NM. You have to work with your FC/group to gather trigger item to pop bosses, in the open world. Trigger items could drop from tougher ennemies that would require grouping up with people.

Specifically, you can look at the ZNM from FFXI.
It was, I think, a very clever way to bring open world content for Linkshell and/or Alliance, without the stupidity of HNM claim. Even the soul plate system (taking picture of monsters) was unique and interesting.

But Sky/Sea trigger bosses also was a better open world content that FATE train.
GW2 World Event, Rift dynamic invasion, WoW elite zone (and the quest tied to it) are also better open world content than FATE train, in my opinion.

All in all, I'm all for more open world content, but as I said, difficult, meaningfull and interesting gameplay wise.

I actually enjoyed the Eureka Fate train a lot, to the point that I didn't mind leveling a second character through Eureka after I was done with the first, haha. To me Eureka was quite an adventure; I loved how everyone had to gather together to accomplish something, and I felt useful helping people with Heals and Raises.

No, there could be so much better things than a FATE train.
