I want this system to be as standard and not player addons
pretty much, that s why I ask for it being optional, but being text command can be annoying when do combat, so a turn on and off in option is the way to goThis would really help measure the proper distance to be in battles, we already have a system up for the DoH classes I believe it uses yalms, so why not have a /distance command that constantly shows the players distance from target. Also, if Skills are to vary in range needed for execution maybe they could put it in the upper left or right hand corner of the skill discription area.
Just some food for thought!
People wanted Alt+Tab to be a standard in FFXI, too. Same with distance markers, displayed recast timers, etc, etc, etc.
With a large overhaul and a roadmap underway, you're likely going to have to wait until 2.0... And you're likely going to have to use an add-on.
Fact is, community will always be one step ahead of the developers, this has been proven copious times with WoW's add-ons, and Yoshi recognizes the integrity of the community and is willing to step into this area of allowing player created add-ons.
So yea, you can expect to hear the inevitable "Why don't you have this add-on?"
The way I see it, is when you type in the /distance command, it will open up a small UI that shows your current target's distance.
