A lot of people are against it, though there isn't really much they can do about it. With a major expansion coming out in a couple of weeks for a rival MMO, though, I wouldn't be surprised if FFXIV's community takes a temporary population hit. Some of the people who stray, though, may end up straying permanently - especially if Blizzard manage to adopt a content model that brings fresh content out at a rate that rivals FFXIV.

It doesn't help that Yoshi-P is on record actively telling people to go and play other games. That isn't a bad statement to make, though I feel like it's also somewhat insulting when it feels very much like an excuse to hide the simple fact that content is being staggered to match subscription renewal cycles.

Personally I don't think we should be facing more than a two week delay for content when a patch goes live. That would give people time to focus on the MSQ's and not lag behind if they're truly committed to the game...but it wouldn't leave veteran players without stuff to do because waiting a month or two months for the 'meat' of a content patch is getting rather tiresome.
