This has nothing to do with the thread. I just wanna know who did your commission. I like the art style and want oneIf not for them, I probably would no longer be playing.
The content I get the most enjoyment out of these days is the MSQ and general fluff like new emotes or glamours that have a relatively short shelf life in the grand scheme of things. If not for having at least one diehard fan of this game for a friend, I would likely have lost incentive to resub each month as I am not a raider and the dungeon grind routine has gradually worn me down to the point that its simply not enjoyable to me.
I usually play with a couple IRL friends and having them in Discord makes it more fun for me. As for the few I have in game, I rarely see them and when we bump into each other it's usually just exchange hellos and chat for a minute before splitting up again.
My FC is a small, tightly knit group of peeps and we're like a little family. With a couple of them, there is definitely a sibling vibe going on and I see them as my older brothers. And me being the least experienced of the lot (also youngest of them irl) get the baby sister treatment. Guildleader is a mama bear and pretty much looks after the estate and spends the majority of her time crafting and gathering.
Things really wouldn't be the same without them, but my life in the game would go on should any of them leave the game for whatever reason. However, I often get the feeling that I'm kind of the glue in our little group, and I influence their playtime. Actually, I can probably guarantee that. While they are waiting for the next patch to come out, they keep themselves busy helping me catch up ^^
One of the benefits of having a friend in this game is that you can shove his grey parses into his face and telling him to git gud, without fearing him going on OF to cry about how much of a spawn of the devil parser is.
Or trashtalking him about putting countdown macro on the BRD then trying to bait cooldowns on the MNK...then failing to hardswap to the BRD, making us both wasting our bursts...without fearing him going on the OF to cry about how much I am part of the problem leading to Feast chat ban.
Same. I've completed lots of relics, and always do my roulettes, so I have run my fair share of dungeons. If not for them, I probably would no longer be playing.

When I get burned out on dungeons, I tend to just stay away from them for a while. That's the easiest way to build up the incentive to do them again, I find. Allow the rust to settle in before running them again if doing them with a familiar job, or take them on as an different job, or even role to start the learning process all over again. But one thing I always tell myself when running dungeons is that we are all there for some reason, and no matter your role you are helping the others in your group obtain their objective. Community service is probably not the biggest incentive to run content, but it really does go a long way in keeping everyone subbed.
I know you are on a legacy server, so I am not sure if you have ran alliance raids, but those can be a change up from the standard dungeon. The chat is often amusing, and they seriously remind me of a playground where everyone is pretty much doing whatever the hell they want. If you're a glam chaser, there are SO MANY to be obtained in the 24-mans.
I am happy to hear that you have found companions that help keep you logging on. If they ever leave, you come and find me.![]()
If I wanted to play an MMO solo, I'd go back to WoW. I'd have quit in ARR if not for having people to play with.
I spoke earlier of some of my FC mates feeling like my older brothers. Well one of them is that older brother that shows his love by giving his younger sibling a playful hard time. He constantly boasts about how strong and unkillable he is, and pats me like a lala because he knows it pisses me off. So I, in turn will place a 'love-bite' Rescue on his butt letting him know that I can kill him whenever I damn well please.Or trashtalking him about putting countdown macro on the BRD then trying to bait cooldowns on the MNK...then failing to hardswap to the BRD, making us both wasting our bursts...without fearing him going on the OF to cry about how much I am part of the problem leading to Feast chat ban.
FC chat is filled with a lot of smack talking between the two of us, but if anyone, and I do mean ANYONE makes a snide comment towards either of us, we quickly have each other's backs. Someone slapped me after I failed a mechanic in a previous fight that I was doing for the first time, and it was crazy how much of a reflex it was that my "bro" jumped on his case. I honestly feel so fortunate to have these guys, especially after reading some of the comments here. They have shielded me from a lot of the game's toxicity, which is why I am so clueless when people talk about the bad stuff that happens in this game.
I haven't talked to anyone in this game beyond "hello" and "tyfp" in about 2 years. It's definitely not a game where being social makes any difference whatsoever.
In FFXI we had a long term ls and all of us were great friends even if we were from other parts of the world. It was crucial to make friends and form alliances in that game to get anything done. In ESO and in GW2 I am much more social. Even just chatting with random people. The playerbase of other games are quite different overall.
Here you watch a video and join a pf or df pt. No need to even get on voice chat or even type in party at all really. Not to mention chat boxes are generally filled with 10+ line picture macros, usually the same one cause no one can come up with anything new. Heck I don't even have alliance chat turned on, I turned that off long ago do to alliance wide macros and people trying there best (and usually failing) to be funny trolls.
It would be nice for them to give us a reason to be more social. But for now the rewards don't match the effort when it comes to more hardcore content and there isn't much to do since everything becomes outdated so fast. Add on top the lack of long term goals and you don't have much to be social over outside of the social for its own sake. If you are brand new this may not be the case but for us long timers, yeah no need.
I know it's beautiful.I haven't talked to anyone in this game beyond "hello" and "tyfp" in about 2 years. It's definitely not a game where being social makes any difference whatsoever.

To be honest, I'd play this entire game with well-programmed/programmable bots (something akin to Squadrons, but... you know... good).
CHUNG CHUNG CHUNG CHUNG MAGITEK ARMOR!
If you need something in the game to be social, then don't. I socialize because i like my friends in game, not because i expect them to run content with me. I love my FC, i love my friends, some i already know irl. I may not be the most social person, in fact i have social anxiety, but these people helped me a lot about my mental problems, my issues about socializing, self-esteem etc. So yeah, game doesn't have to give you anything to make you socialize. If you don't want it is fine but if you do, i suggest do it without expecting anything in return.
Or join a static or something for a specific content but to me, it is not socializing. It is more like trying to do some content with other players, which whole game is like that anyway.
