In all seriousness, for a game that is so focused on damage output that even optimal healers and tanks do as much DPS as they possibly can, it's ridiculous to not let people know how much damage they're doing. It actually presents a minor barrier to console players trying to get into end-game if they don't have a friendly PC bro to help them out... and to the innocents on both versions who want to try Savage and get the cold shoulder because they don't know how bad they are since they've never seen it quantified. SE refusing to acknowledge the results of their own game design and MMO culture in general isn't doing them or players any favor here. Make it an optional, personal only display if there are concerns about abuse.
It's basically impossible to actually get any meaningful feedback about your performance without some kind of outside help. Want to learn your rotation or a good flow for your job? Look up a community guide. Want to learn how good your damage is relative to your peers? Better hope you have some friends that were able to set up a 3rd party program that openly discussing about violates the ToS.

The closest thing we have to any kind of meaningful damage metric in this game is Stone, Sea, Sky. That took years to come out, doesn't tell anybody anything about their job, and is so devoid of mechanics that even wasting your time hitting a dummy does nothing to tell you how well you'll actually perform in the fight itself.
