the type that want to feel rewarded with little effort put into it, i/e wow mainstream (though it feels like endgame is more engaging there along with pvp. You run into more pvp battle grounds at like level 30? or so then being level cap in this game, big joke)

SOoo ofc making an easy mode game they need to artificially extend its life somehow. OH I KNOW! 450 cap tomestones, weekly lockouts, and the like. What i do not get is the massive scale of copy/paste, it is likely why you feel like there is nothing to do. I do not want to do HoH because its palace of the dead on easy mode, simply boring. (something someone told me)

list them, and try to leave out "hard content" that will simply be faceroll in 1-3 months.

I'm in the camp that feels there's little to do between each patch but even I recognize that for someone who hasn't been playing for as long as I have, there's an insane amount of content to do. I've been playing for over four years so of course I'm caught up with all my combat jobs at 70 and having to wait for the next patch for something to do. For others, there's a whole bunch of stuff they might never even get to see before they quit in a few years.

That said, I wish SE didn't design so much of the playable content to be disposable. A persistent mode with compelling grind would be welcome. Eureka could have been this, might be for some folks, but I hate it with a passion.

IMO, if you were one of those people who felt compelled to do absolutely every little thing in the game that FFXIV has to to offer, there's honestly an overwhelming amount of stuff to do in this game. So much so that I'd rather not even list it all here.
No there isn't, ill ask the same thing to you as to that other poster:

Or are you going to list insane stuff like owning complete wards as something to do? That is the only thing I can think of that could be a huge enough time sink to warrant such a statement. decorating them all, that is, and earning gil for all that to do so, while being on an empty server.

What I always say to peeps in your case is if you can't find any enjoyment in the game then you have to strongly consider continuing to pay the monthly sub. You can always take a break, and check out the official patch notes as they release more content to see if anything grabs your attention then.
If that was true you wouldn't have a development team desperately trying to lessen sub> unsub turnover by slowly trickling content, artificially extending the life of what they are giving us. If that was not true you wouldn't have these threads keep popping up. (and consistently talked about in other forms)

What part of my post are you saying is untrue? Are you saying the game does not have a wide range of content that does not cater to a wide range of players? Because that is the only factual statement I am making. It isn't even a bold statement, and it's actually indisputable. The game, in fact, does indeed have a wide range of content to do. If you walk into a room full of different board games and you only like to play checkers and maybe an occasional deck of UNO, then the room itself is not the problem.

Repetition gets to us all at one point or another. Doing the same thing over and over again does indeed get tedious, and even boring. But if you only find a small percentage of the game's content interesting, then you get to the real reason why these threads exist; not because a lack of content. You almost never hear these complaints come from crafters, gatherers, and legacy players because their methods of keeping themselves busy are tried and true. These players tend to explore a wider range of the game's content, and are likely not even finished with everything they want to do before the next patch hits, and many talk about struggling to keep up, especially before another expansion.

I honestly don't blame SE at all for player boredom. Just like I don't blame a library if someone goes in there and can't find anything interesting to read.
