Even if it is temporary and they are planning future changes that will allow all gear to be dyed, doesn't that implicitly mean that they will have to delete or change the temporary gear?
I think you're the one missing the bigger picture actually. Without the Color ID system, the game treats two of the same item in different colors as completely different items. This will change eventually with the color ID system which stores the color data separately from the item itself. With the color ID system your NPC dying system could be feasible but until then neither are possible.

Yeah and you only have to wait another year.

I'll wait as long as it takes for them to implement a great system. I blame the old team for this though since they did code the convoluted mess that we got at launch. If the old systems weren't so bad they didn't need to be entirely replaced we could have this sooner.

Actually, I'm not. Thanks for trying to invoke an ad hominem invalid argument. Perhaps you meant that you do not believe that Square Enix missed the big picture. This has NOTHING to do with me.

Short term, ill-conceived, temporary patches do not permanently fix the problem. They only exacerbate the problem by creating somthing more complex that it needs to be. They are not fixing the problem with this solution.

You're right, it doesn't 100% fix the problem however it does give us a better state to play in until they can implement the fix that they've already mentioned.

I respectfully disagree. I do not see how having Boarskin Jerkin of Vitality, and Boarskin Jerkin of Vitality (Red), (Grey) and (Black) is better than not having Boarskin Jerkin of Vitality etc.

I understand the program may have issues with dyeing all equipment any color at this time until 2.0 but it just doesn't make sense to me to add these new equipment items if they are planning on removing or changing them later.

    That's all.

I think the "Item of ___" is going to stay. They added those because the community wanted them to separate stats from color. From my understanding with the color ID system you'll still have Boarskin Jerkin of Vitality but the color variants won't exist since the color data is stored separately. The only thing they'll be removing is the color variants which honestly isn't even a hard thing to do. I'm thinking that Boarskin Jerkin of Vitality (Red) will turn into Boarskin Jerkin of Vitality in the color red when the color ID system is put in place.

It's better than having stats tied to colors though so I'm happy with it personally.

Then again, you could be wrong.

As could you, however that's my take on their system. I can't think of a reason they would remove the enhanced items.
