People raid because they like raiding. if they like raiding that much and they are in NA/EU, they're far more likely to be playing WoW not FFXIV for their raiding fix (though they may also play FFXiV for other reasons).

It doesn't matter how many incentives you add to content, if a player doesn't like that content they won't do it. All you end up doing is giving more rewards to the players that would have been doing the content regardless. If you try to force the matter by making raiding (or whatever content the player finds undesirable) essential to character progression, they'll just find another game to play.

Stop worrying about raid completion rates among players. Enjoy the parts of the game you enjoy and let others do the things they enjoy.

Had to do that quite a few times, rather wait the timer and do something else than deal with something that would make me slap my forehead causing injury. Funny thing is had a few people usually the one being bad on their class, go out of their way to make a alt on my server and curse me out. Its adorable.

There is a ceiling to how much you know about your job's rotation and execution. Once you've reached this ceiling the only way to build up the numbers and be "good" is to be a suicidal dps player to the detriment of the party. Hyper aggressive playstyles doesn't suit me for not only this game but in video games period.
That is a flat out falsehood. If you are a hyper aggressive DPS player in Savage, and ignore mechanics, you get 1-shot by every mechanic.

DPSing is about dodging everything while still maximizing your rotation and uptime. Getting hit by mechanics in Savage means that, 9 times out of 10, you're dead. That or you killed somebody else.

SE could add as many incentives as possible to raids and I still won't ever bother with them.

I have absolutely no interest in raiding, at all.

    Nah man, didn't you hear?

Raiders are mean evil poopieheads that just flame everybody and come in to sully the pure, innocent healers that just want to push one button every 30 seconds while watching Netflix. If you don't learn a fight while doing 30000 DPS they say mean things to you and then blacklist you from all the parties.

These same raiders, simultaneously, are inept clowns that could never clear a single EX primal if it weren't for parsers carrying them with the evil, forbidden tools of transparent math.

5 years of hearing this gets a bit grating.

Lol. Yeah, well, for the most part, I just keep my mouth shut and offer advice where I can. Being incognito has its perks, you know

For me it's been an issue of the people involved, rather than anything wrong with the design or incentives for the raids themselves, I think. I was part of groups for Coil, Gordias, and Midas, and all three times, the groups fell apart due to completely stupid personal drama and cat fights between other players (plenty of he-said-she-said and insulting each other's skill at the game etc.) that made trying to play the game really awkward as I and other members of the groups got stuck watching the immaturity and trying to stay out of the way. I'm not even talking about elitists, but just people that seem to really struggle with basic teamwork skills and with managing their frustrations reasonably, rather than taking it out on each other. Logging in with a feeling of "Ugh, what drama is going to happen today?" was extremely unpleasant. It definitely got to the point where raiding became the opposite of fun and ultimately I decided to stop.

I don't know if it's really a "cultural" thing, but I definitely do feel like I've encountered a lot of dramatic people with big egos while trying to raid on NA data center, which has decreased my interest in FFXIV raiding over time.

Each new raid tier I look at the fights and think "That looks fun" and then I have that moment of "But does it look fun enough to make the potential drama and salt worth it?" The answer is usually no.

This time around, I lost my desire to raid because every fight is nothing but a DPS race. By the time I got to 07S, just didn't feel like doing it anymore.

I don't have a static, some weeks finding groups was tedious. Using PF, I had good groups and bad groups. Shrug off the bad groups and try again. There's a lot of people that expect perfection, even in learning parties.

Then there's the "miss the boat" issue. If you ride the wave of everyone learning early on you can get through stuff. If you can't, you get left behind. I have no problem taking content slower, most people don't want to spend time in old raids.

FFXIV is plagued by a troubling number of players who are exceptionally flaky. Trying to find people to run content with in a consistent manner at a pace that is reasonable and driven by a genuine sense of companionship is rather difficult. That's really the only reason I don't tackle high end content these days. I could throw myself at the party finder and eventually clear through a random group but it just wouldn't be the same without the friendly banter and seeing people grow and improve over time.

It seems like if someone isn't already in a raid static they're out of luck - because it really is a matter of luck as to whether or not a spot opens up somewhere...and even then there's no guarantee that the movement will get up off the ground due to how much of a 'mercenary' approach raiders take. Then, of course, there's the ridiculous hoops set up for people to climb through. I've attended job interviews for high pressure jobs that were less demanding than some of the raid statics who are only intending to tackle high end content at a 'casual' pace.
