What ways are there around the rules? Everything these FC's have done is clearly within the rules.

I did not say anyone was in violation. Only if there are those in clear violation of them.

In any case, it might be time to impose even further restrictions if FCs can do this. This "it's within the rules" doesn't pardon the selfish BS. Like not at all.

Make no mistake, it's clearly against the rules, and the efforts made here are in clear violation of the rules. Just because you've circumvented the hard coded rules doesn't mean you haven't broken them.

It is now. If you feel they are actively circumventing the current rules then report them and let the gm know what they are doing to make you feel that way. If they were around since before the current restrictions were placed, they were grandfathered in, so the new rules don’t apply to what they already had. Just what they can get in the future. If these are actively buying yet are characters on separate accounts then they are within their rights to do so, but if they’re making use of some loophole despite what SE has done to stop hoarding, then SE needs to know about it. I suspect though that it’s just someone or a group relocating what they already had.

But what classify as a violation? What stricter rules are you wanting to imply? Because, frankly, punishing to this extent sounds draconian.

What kind of restrictions? And would they really matter? Because those who bought houses prior to these new restrictions you propose would just be grandfathered in, just like they were for the post-4.1 housing changes. As someone said earlier in this thread, it would end up punishing innocent players more than the people you would want SE to target.

Like with the patch, I don't think anyone with current ownership should be affected if additional restrictions are placed. With the addition of the message books, I started going around wards to leave friendly messages to houses I liked, and I was astonished at the amount of homes I saw with less than 100k invested into the décor and not taking advantage of housing exclusive features such as gardening, chocobo stables, flower pots, etc. It's what has led to my abrasive PoV in this thread.

Obviously, what people do with their homes is entirely up to them after they purchase, and people can buy to their hearts content so long as it is within the rules. And so long as housing is limited, the argument that limiting housing to even one per account regardless if FC or not will not fix the problem remains strong. Be that is it may, I can't keep down the desire to express my disgust with community selfishness.

You just went on a rant about people not investing money into their house, and you say that its the community that is selfish? My PoV as a homeowner with not much gil is that people can do what they like with their house, and you shouldn't judge at all. As for the housing availability problem, I feel that the housing demolition and recent restrictions are all that is needed for mid pop and low pop servers, however, I think that the devs should focus specifically on high pop servers with future housing improvements in order to cater to the greater number of players.

Okay... but you still didn’t answer my question: what restrictions for housing are you insinuating/wanting SE to put in place? All you’ve done right now is tell me that you’re irritated people haven’t used their houses to your standards.

I've relocated about 10 of those houses to that specific ward when they doubled the amount of available wards. I've converted 3 of those houses to FC houses and since then, I've obtained 8 more FC houses for a total of 18 FC houses and 3 personal houses. Contrary to the popular belief, leveling up 18+ fcs takes ressources on top of the ongoing management. There's no circumventing the rules or any exploit. Anyone can load up 9 houses on the same account if they are willing to put in the effort.
